Bento Box

Bento Box

Bento Box = Lunch Box. I hand prepared and rolled the sushi you see in the upper left corner (it's set on cabbage.) In the upper right corner, that's Onigiri (Japanese rice Balls). They are made from sweet, sticky rice and can have just about anything on the inside (like salmon or pickled plum). That's seaweed on the outside to give you a place to grip without getting your fingers sticky. Bottom left is a big portion of sticky rice accented with carrots, broccoli, an orange slice, and sausages that are supposed to look like octopus (they don't). In the bottom right is Chicken Kare Age (Fried Chicken). Don't let it fool you - that stuff is actually kinda tough to make. A splash of lime tastes great on it. in the empty spot, I usually put a light Teriyaki Sauce or Yakitori sauce for dipping.
