About this Cook
Even though I was born in Massachusetts, I have been raised entirely in the South, which means I like my food filling and full of carbs, fats, and sugars. I am super thankful for my genetics, which have gifted me an amazing metabolism. No low fat, diet, or light anything for this cook! I'm married with two kids (three if you count the hubby--and I do), I work full time, and I go to school part time. I still find time to cook, though.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! If it is sweet, it is bound to be tried in the Krispy Kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is HUGE. It just doesn't feel like Thanksgiving unless the table bows under the weight of the food.
My cooking triumphs
I love making themed birthday cakes. I am excited to see my work getting better with each cake. I also finally mastered the art of stir-frying. I was so proud when I made authentic-tasting fried rice for the first time!
My cooking tragedies
Pastry, pastry, pastry. Pastry is something I cannot seem to master no matter how hard I try. Also, French cooking is difficult, partly because I already find it intimidating. I am starting to understand how sugar works in different foods and at different temperatures, but I still make quite a few blunders when preparing candies and poured fondants.

Pumpkin Fudge
I made this recipe as-is for Thanksgiving and it was delicious. I had no trouble with it at all. :) Thanks a bunch!

Pumpkin Pie Cake
This is good, but not spectacular. An hour was too long in my oven--and my oven does not run hot. I would recommend checking on it after 45 minutes, just in case. Great for the holidays, thanks!

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup
So I just finished eating this--it was great! I actually could not taste the pumpkin at all, but I'm sure it gave it that wonderful body it has, so I don't think omitting it would've been okay. I used chicken instead of ham, because it's what we had, and used a full pound rather than a half pound. I also did not have sherry vinegar, so I just used a tablespoon of regular vinegar. Next time I'll add another can of whole black beans, though, to give it more "stuff." Overall, great soup!
