A few months ago, I blogged about how I had finally made my first pie crust. I had filled it with a vegetarian quiche, and later cursed myself for not being brave enough to make it earlier! It was so easy, and previously I had made crustless quiches or paid for prepaid crusts at the store.…

The finished, baked product. Anyone have ice cream?
I love to cook, usually just for my family and friends. I live to eat, not eat to live. I love eating out, trying new things and enjoy when people cook for me! I’ve been a vegetarian for my whole life, but I do sneak the occasional slice of bacon or pepperoni.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are usually vegetarian, ethnic, flavorful and rich! Indian, Italian, Thai and Latin American cuisine are on the top of my list. I also have a sweet tooth; cheesecakes, cookies, pies and desserts are a challenge and a treat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
People often wonder where I get my love for cooking--since my Mom does not like to cook and my Dad was always too busy to cook. Perhaps I am a foodie at heart and it was an instinct for survival?
My cooking triumphs
This would have to be Christmas 2007. I cooked the biggest meal I have ever made, all from scratch. Because we knew it was our last Christmas with our Dad, I made all of his favorites, including salmon with creamy dill sauce and scalloped potatoes. I also made a turkey, chicken cordon bleu, sweet potatoes, stuffing, and a green salad. I almost ran out of room in the oven!
My cooking tragedies
This has to be burning food on the grill. I walk away to give something a few more minutes, and when I return I have charcoal!
