With a background in graphic design, I've had my share of dealing with folks of all levels of expertise. I've known designers who truly want to do good work but for the life of them, they just can't take something beyond the normal every day ho hum. But what truly makes a good designer great is…
MORE
Love eating, so I got good at cooking. I started as a matter of necessity when I moved out of my mom's home and was on my own. Now that I have a husband to feed, I experiment on him. Which he doesn't mind a bit.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking more than anything but I love to cook anything once to try it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Having a Chinese heritage, I've left a lot of the traditional Chinese cooking behind. But I do like to cook jook (a hearty rice soup) which is terrific for taking care of the leftover chicken in the fridge. Growing up in Hawaii, my childhood was filled with multi-national foods. So I'll try to cook a wide variety of foods from different ethnic backgrounds including, Hawaiian, Portuguese, Japanese, Filipino and just plain "local".
My cooking triumphs
I think I've finallly mastered making blueberry scones. And I think I can put on a pretty elegant dinner party for a small group of friends.
My cooking tragedies
Forgetting to add something into a recipe before cooking it has left me with some not so great tasting dishes. Now I double check all the ingredients twice before I start the stove or the oven.
