About this Cook
I live in beautiful hill country Texas with my wonderful husband, three amazing daughters, and our big, sweet, fluffy dog. I am a WAHM (work-at-home mom) and I love my lifestyle. I get the best of both worlds, being home for my kids and also earning a paycheck.
My favorite things to cook
I just love variety! I have some old stand-by recipes, but really enjoy trying new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade spaghetti sauce from scratch just like my mom and her mom before me. I don't frequently spend the time to do it, but when I do it's always worth it. I also love getting together with my mom to create the best Thanksgiving meal you can imagine.
My cooking triumphs
My friends love my banana nut bread! I take a lot of pride in it. Acutally it's my mom's recipe that I grew up with, and it is amazing. Other than that, I consider it a triumph whenever I actually find a recipe that the whole family likes.
My cooking tragedies
I was pretty disappointed when I tried to do a cheesy baked artichoke dip for the first time. It was for a party I was hosting and I really wanted it to turn out well, but I overcooked it and it came out greasy and yucky... not really a tragedy, but I'm normally not one to cry over spilt milk, or anything else that goes wrong in the kitchen!

Margarita Cake
I thought it was delicious and moist and good! It did not remind me of a margarita though: too orangey. I did not win my block party dessert contest (of only 4 entries) and it was not all eaten by the end of the party. I gave my 2 1/2 year old daughter a bite and she didn't like it. I made the recipe as written, except I used lime juice instead of lemon, and I found the glaze to be way too runny so I doubled the amount of confectioners' sugar.

Brownies V
This recipe is fabulous! I did a search on the site for "unsweetened baking chocolate" which yielded many results, of course. I chose this one, thinking it would be just the thing for my chocolate craving. I was right! I didn't have any nuts on hand, but I did happen to have the rest of the ingredients and I found this recipe very easy to make. Instead of orange zest and Grand Marnier, I used 6 splashes of Chambord raspberry liqueur. Yummy!
