...SIKE...It IS another blog about butter! MADE YOU LOOK, LOL! :) Anyway, moving on... I have to be completely honest here, my main memory of butter is that growing up we ate A LOT of it (it was the only thing that my mom had in the house)! I remember that my mom had this tan colored plastic… MORE

About this Cook
Hi Everyone! My name is Christina and I live in Pittsburgh (born and raised here) with my husband, Jim (we have been married for 9 years), my son Gabriel (he is 5), and our twin baby girls born June 22, 2011, Abby and Ally. I love cooking and sharing recipes and have a pretty extensive cookbook/recipe collection. I think my love of cooking comes from my mom and dad. We are definately a family that loves to cook (AND EAT!). I also enjoy watching hockey, LET'S GO PENS!, walking, crocheting and doing crafts. I am looking forward to meeting alot of new people here, and sharing tips and ideas.
My favorite things to cook
EVERYTHING! I love trying new things and we are not a picky family, so anything goes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just cook with love and patience. I am 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Lebanese, so we have tons of family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
When I was maybe 12 years old, I had a dinner party for some close neighbors and I made stuffed shrimp, homemade gnocchi with sauce, salad, homemade croissants and creme caramel for dessert. I was so proud of myself. When I cook and I can see the look of enjoyment on the people I am servings faces, that is a triumph all in itself.
My cooking tragedies
None that I can recall, LOL!

Portobello Mushroom Burger With Bruschetta Topping
EXCELLENT! I used a 4 cheese blend instead of the horseradish cheddar and rubbed the mushrooms w/ evoo, salt, pepper and a little garlic powder before cooking. The bruschetta topping is wonderful and just made these burgers perfect in every way! I served these on 'Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls' also from this site. I will def be making these again and again! Thanks, Andy, for sharing this awesome recipe! :)

Portabella Mushroom Burgers with Red Pepper Mayonnaise
YUM! The marinade gave the mushrooms a wonderful flavor. The mayo was great, but a bit spicy for me, so I'd reduce the cayenne next time, but that's my preference. Instead of roasting a pepper, I had a jar of roasted peppers and onions, so I went w/ that...perfect! I served these on 'Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls' also from this site. I will be making these again! Thanks for sharing. :)

Navy Beans and Greens with Bacon and Garlic
VERY GOOD! I wasn't able to allow this to simmer for an hour, b/c I had to run out, but this was wonderful even w/o doing that. I only used 3 strips of bacon, and a bag of regular spinach that I tore up. This had great flavor, and, not that it needed it, but I think next time I may add a little crushed pepper flakes just for a little spice. I will def be making it again! Thanks for sharing. :)
