My favorite things to cook
I love comfort food, like chicken and dumplings. But I also like to prepare Chinese and Mexican food at home. I like to make enchilada's with a white wine,cream and green chile sauce. I make my crispy orange beef often ( I to double my sauce recipe)it's a family favourite!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have an Italian background and so family get togethers always centre around the food. Whether it be a pizza party with the wood burning brick oven or a pig roast, family gatherings are all about the food.

Cake Doughnuts
These turned out really well. I add the zest of half a lemon and half an orange. I drained them on paper towels for a few minutes before coating them in icing sugar or the granulated sugar cinnamon combo. The boys in my house loved them!

Slow Cook Thai Chicken
A good recipe for the slow cooker. My only complaint was that it wasn't very appealling to the eye. The red peppers were lost in the sauce and very mushy, the only colour was added at the end with the cilantro. But if you can get past how it looks it tastes terrific and I will be making it again. I will be adding the peppers and onions later in the cooking process so that they don't totally disappear.

Southern Style Chicken and Dumplings
An excellent recipe. I used the chicken broth that I skimmed from the top (to reduce the fat in the broth),once I strained it, to replace the water when making the dumplings. I then reduced the shortening in the dumplings to 2- 2 1/2 tablespoons.
