About this Cook
In my early 30s, married since 2003. We used to live in Orlando where we could enjoy Disney's parks and wonderful restaurants. We miss it so bad, we wish we could move back tomorrow ;-) I had to learn "american style" cooking after I met my husband, as the Quebec style was too different for him - I also found out it was real easy and he was happy with it. My challenge is now to get back to my roots with what's available in the south west. I also became an expert at quick salads since I got to feed a few reptiles every morning.
My favorite things to cook
I often make a Noisettier as cake to bring to social occasions. It's very moist and not very sweet, always a favorite. I also LOVE to bake! Cookies, cakes, pies, breads, bring it on! I also love casseroles as they are often a "one bowl" dish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandma's easter ham. A real good Canadian ham with the bone in, baked slowly with maple syrup. Yum!! I have not been able to replicate this with a ham bought in the USA.
My cooking triumphs
Grilled beef brochettes (kebabs) and more recently, BBQ baby back ribs - everybody asked me where I bough them, then how I made them!! My quiches and onion pies are also requested for social functions.
My cooking tragedies
Over baked one of those American hams pre-cut in a spiral fashion. The thing was so dry, I ended up grounding it for sandwiches and finger foods.

Waffles II
Delicious basic waffles recipe, not bitter or anything. I tried it as-is to find out what I was dealing with. Make sure to spray your waffle iron even if it is non-stick. For the subsequent waffles I added half a cup of sugar and bit of vanilla. I served with cut fruits: mango, pineapple and bananas (shredded coconut is also delicious with this combination). A sprinkle of powder sugar and maple syrup helps crown this beautiful treat.

Mom's Sushi Rice
I did not have any konbu dried kelp however I decided to give it a try anyway. This recipe is great except that to our taste it had too much vinegar. Otherwise, the rice came out perfect.
