I am a nurse by profession but currently work part time as a Biology and Botany teacher. Cooking is my passion and favorite hobby. I spend most of my time in the kitchen responding to 3 kids yelling "I'm hungry" all the time. I love planning menus and especially love being in a Gourmet Club with my husband Dan and some of our best friends. I have fun trying new recipes but it is the old tried and true that I stick to. I like to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy speaking to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) groups in my area about cooking, entertainment, and hospitality. I also write food articles for my brother's (and fellow foodie) blog called attifood.com. I host my own food website called http://www.bigredkitchen.com. Visit me there.
My favorite things to cook
Anything quick and easy but looks like I spent all day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian cookies, pastas, and sauces. Mom makes a great Sunday Dinners which I someday hope to master but I will wait till the kids are old enough to wash all those silly dishes. I have also started to dabble in candy making.
My cooking triumphs
Making a complete meal out of hardly any food in the house. Planning my menu for one year. Creating cooking charts which makes cooking and freezing a cinch. Having a recipe published in Taste of Home magazine. And planning a Make-A-Mix night for 75 women making a total of 825 mixes in under 45 minutes!
My cooking tragedies
Dropping the whole entire tray of Shrimp Louis Cocktails on Christmas Day. Each cocktail was in a large martini glass and surprisingly no glass broke but I had to start all over.
