Round Steak Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I browned the meat first and then through everything in my crock pot on low and cooked it all day. I thickened the sauce with a little cornstarch and served it with wheat noodles and a side of corn. This was really good!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I warned up the evaporated milk and threw all of the wet ingredients in my bread machine, then the dry ingredients and lastly the yeast and set it for the "dough" cycle. I then shaped it, let it rise and baked it in my regular oven at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes. It was moist and really good!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I used this as a marinate and then boiled what was leftover and used this as a sauce for the cooked chicken. It made the chicken very moist and flavorful.

Chiles Rellenos (Stuffed Peppers)

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
My husband fixed these and they were delicious but he said they were such a pain to make that he will never make them again! We liked them stuffed with the ground beef and he used monterey jack cheese instead of the mozzarella.

Autumn Apple Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
I had this at a party and thought it was so good. I had some marscapone cheese leftover from making a tiramisu so I substituted the cream cheese for it and it turned out great.

Thai Pork with Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I don't care for red bell pepper so I left it out. I added regular onions too. The sauce was a dreary brown color but very tasty. Next time I plan on sauting some jullienned carrots and adding to it.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
I halved the recipe and then halved the soy sauce again plus substituted Dijon mustard because I didn't have any spicy brown mustard plus I didn't have on hand the reduced sodium soy sauce so I used regular. I thought with only using about 1/6 cup of the sodium, it would be fine. Maybe if I would have used the low sodium it would have turned out. The flavor was fine but it still was extremely salty! I ended up throwing some Masterpiece BBQ sauce on it just to be able to eat it. I will definitely not make this again.

Pretty good but not spicy enough. I added some cayenne pepper and garlic to it.

Botercake

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
I don't know what I did wrong. The cake looks great and tastes fine but it is very dry. The only way we could eat it is with some strawberries and milk poured over it.

Spaghetti Pie II

This was very good! I added a tsp. of fresh basil and cut down on the oregano. I used stewed tomatoes and half cottage cheese and half ricotta cheese and omitted the green pepper. I will definitely make this again!

Moroccan Chicken and Whole Grain Couscous

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
My husband and I love moroccan food and this was a keeper. I used yellow squash instead of the zucchini and a 36 oz. box of chicken broth. It was really runny so I thinkened the juice with some cornstarch. Most moroccan chicken recipes I've fixed in the past didn't call for cloves but I think it adds a unique flavor.

Parchment Salmon Packages with Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
The salmon was so moist and juicy. The asparagus was slighty crisp...just the way I like it and the sauce was very good. Although I didn't use fresh herbs, it was still very good.

Amish White Bread

We love this bread! It was light and slightly sweet. I could have ate the whole loaf! I fixed it in bread machine on the dough cycle and then put it in a loaf pan and let it rise and then baked it in my regular oven. This is a keeper!

Herman Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
So gooey and cinnaminny! Tastes like I'm eatin a Cinnabon cinnamin roll! I omitted the raisins. I used walnuts instead of pecans. In the filling I added half of the nuts. After pouring in the batter in the dish, I topped it off with the rest of the walnuts. I used butter instead of margarine too. Make sure your sourdough starter is at room temperature. This is definitely a keeper!

Crab Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This was delicious! I used some heavy cream instead of milk, added about 1 TB of fresh dill and used fresh mushrooms. Instead of pounding out the chicken, I left them thick and cut a slit and put the stuffing inside the breasts. I added the cheese and paprika and baked, covered for about 45 minutes. This was quite rich using the heavy cream. Next time I think I will just use whole milk.

Swiss Cheese Scramble

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was really light and custardy and had alot of flavor from the bacon. I cooked the bacon in the microwave oven and instead of scrambling the eggs in butter, I used a little of the bacon grease. I used half and half too. I prepared this the night before for company and they really enjoyed it with some fresh melon.
