I grew up with a family of wonderful cooks but unfortunately I didn't get that gene until I was married. My Mom, Dad and younger brother are all fabulous in the kitchen...making-up their own recipes, etc. I'm growing that way but still not too confident in myself to make-up extensive recipes...however, I have made-up a delicious vegetable soup and a few other small recipes. I'm great though at cooking all of their recipes!
My favorite things to cook
Vegetables, grilled anything, potato dishes, salads
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving was awesome growing up! The whole family would pitch in and there was so much food. Now, my family lives in different parts of the country so it's usually just me and my husband and sometimes my Mom on Thanksgiving. But, we still cook like 50 people are coming over!!! It's so much fun and my husband really enjoys experimenting with new ways to cook the turkey!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking our first Thanksgiving dinner...mastering my mom's lasagna recipe...mom's pot roast...and dad's zucchini casserole...
My cooking tragedies
Made a pound cake for the first time using my husband's grandmother's recipe. He was so excited that we decided to take it to my in-law's for Christmas eve dinner...not a good time to experiment on a new recipe...everyone was polite and ate it...funny thing is, I made the pound cake in a bundt cake pan...
