Taco Seasoning Mix

I usually omit salt so I didn't run into the problem that others did with too much salt. However this recipe, while being hot, lacks flavor and needs some salt (that's coming from a non salt person!). I doubled the cumin but it is still bland. I think the 1/3 cup of water is perfect though. Also the addition of corn starch in this instead of flour makes a good consistency. I would suggest trying the taco seasoning 1 recipe instead of this one.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

I LOVE this recipe. First, I used fresh ginger instead of dry. Then I used less cinnamon and clove so the focus would be on the ginger. Per other users suggestions, I used oj instead of water, brown sugar instead of white, more flour, mixed by hand, refrigerated the dough overnight, and used parchment on the cookie sheet. Perfection!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Very interesting! Ok, my recipe modifications based on other reviews: Cut sugar to 1.5 cups. Use unsalted butter. Use whipped egg whites only - fold in at end. Use buttermilk. Measure flour after sift. Use 2t almond extract, not vanilla. Use 1T sugar to sweeten strawberries if using unsweetened berries. Bake for 20-25min for cupcakes. I don't think it tastes like "authentic" strawberry either but it's unusual & I still like it. Also, everyone I served it to was very impressed. Thanks for sharing.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

When I made these, I thought I might have put too much flour in because the batter was so thick and didn't seem to have a lot of liquid. However, when they were done, it was a fantastic consistency. As for flavor, I like them but not love them. I used plain greek yogurt, added extra juice and peel (go easy on the extra peel or it will be too bitter) and I used honey in the glaze instead of sugar. Next time I think I will try some lemon extract and see how that works. Mine were done in almost 15 minutes - 20 would be way too long IMO. Will definitely make again.

Corn Chowder I

Except for the cheese and paprika, this is a purist corn chowder. Loooooovvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee it (without those two)! I used two cups of cream in place of milk to make it even creamier.

Original Nestle® Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

Best cookie recipe EVER! I've been making it for over 30 years! If you tend to get flat cookies w this recipe, just add more flour. I generally add about 1/2 cup more. Let your butter sit at room temp but not for too long. If your butter is too soft, your cookies won't be as thick and the texture changes (best to cream by hand, not with a mixer).

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

To say the dough is sticky is an understatement!! You'll need plenty of flour when you roll them. Thought the taste was kind of bland, definitely need frosting/icing with them.

I made this for my boyfriend who is Greek and he really liked it. He said it's not as sweet as what he's used to but that can be easily modified. Other than that, he said it was perfect.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Based on reviews I used half mayo, half sour cream, a squirt of dijon, some fresh garlic, and a dash of dill. Scrumptious! It's a really unusual and interesting potato salad. Love it!

Butter Snow Flakes

5 with modifications. Per other user suggestions, I doubled the cinnamon, used 1/2 tsp vanilla extract + 1/2 tsp orange extract and the zest of one medium orange. I couldn't believe how buttery the cookie tastes with the orange in it!! Btw, don't chill this before using it in the cookie press (it won't work well - ask me how I know). Love this recipe.

Cranberry Orange Cookies

I used 1 1/2 tsp zest, fresh squeezed orange juice, ALMOND extract (it tastes better than the vanilla), and an extra 1/2 cup of flour. DO NOT skip the icing, even if you just drizzle it on. The icing makes the cookie complete and complex.
