Pineapple Orange Sorbet

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
This was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I are on a diet, so I thought I'd whip up a low calorie dessert for us using my brand new ice cream maker. Instead of sugar, I used Splenda (low calorie sweetener). The Splenda dissolved immediately in the water, so I didn’t boil it. After I puréed the pineapple I mixed in all ingredients including the sugar water, and poured it into my ice cream maker.

Cranapana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2006
The bread would not cook for me. I doubled the time just about, and it was still gooey in the center. Aside from still being raw, it was very dense. I was disappointed that I had to throw everything (time, money, ingredients) in the garbage. The worst part was that I doubled the recipe without trying it first. Maybe it was a problem with my flour. Or maybe there should be salt added to the recipe. I don't think I'll try it again.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2005
Great brownie. It did remind me a bit like a chocolate chip cookie with a taste of caramel from all the brown sugar. Mine didn't turn out to look like that pic (the pic looks more like a fluffy cake)... mine was more dense and a little crispy like a cookie. I have never had a Blonde Brownie before so I can't compare this to anything. It did turn out how I expected it would, and I will make this often. Thanks for the recipe! :P

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
I printed this recipe to use for homemade bruschetta. There is a restaurant here that uses Ciabatta for their Bruschetta, but the loaves are a lot smaller (about the size of my hand spread) and the shape is rectangular. I also bought some in the grocery store and they were the exact same as that restaurant's. I was sucked into this recipe because of how quick and easy it is, but it really didn't taste as "authentic" as the ones I have purchased. I made 4 rectangular loaves and baked it for only 20 minutes. They came out poofier than I expected. I spritzed my loaves every 5 mins as suggested, and they came out with a nice golden crust. The bread was very good. I think I will have to use a recipe that calls for a starter being made the day ahead if I want the taste I am going for. Thank you for the recipe - it really is a nice tasting white bread.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
I give this a recipe 5 stars because it is the best tasting pizza there is - my husband agrees! Although, I did have to put it under my oven broiler because the cheese wasn't melting and the crust was cooking too fast. I cheated and used my bread machine to make the dough. I had to substitute with fresh oregano (a little less than called for). I added the garlic and oregano last to the bread machine pan. I used a different sauce than the one in the recipe, and we used our own combination of toppings. Next time I will substitute 1 cup of beer in place of the 1 cup water - as another pizza dough recipe I have calls for.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2004
Very good food!! It actually wasn't as hot as I thought/hoped it would be. Next time I will let the tomato sauce simmer for a lot longer before adding the cream to it. It was very very good the way it was; I just like things hot and spicy most of the time! 7 teaspoons of salt was a little scary to me and my heart, so I only used 1 tsp (1/2 in each the sauce and marinade). My husband loved this too. I will definitely make this again and again and again. Thanks for posting.

Naan

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2004
Well, I give this a 4 because my husband loved the taste. It didn't turn out anything like the restaurant Naan we had just last week. The taste was wonderful, and I might give it another shot. If I make it again, I will scale the recipe down to maybe 1/4 or 1/8 - I have tonnes leftover from last night!! Good taste, but not what I was looking for.

Raita

To each their own taste I guess. I personally think the garlic suited this salad. It reminded me of Tzatziki, only not as good. It seemed to lack something... more garlic or spice? It was OK, but I won't be making this dish again. Thanks for posting, I already have ideas from it.

Asian Chicken Noodle Bowl

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2004
Thanks for a wonderful idea for dinner. I read this about a week ago and thought it would be a good way to use up all my stir fry veggies. This recipe is so easy that I didn't need to revisit it or print it. I made it with all the veggies I like and instead of angel hair pasta I used 2 packs of Mr. Noodles - and it still made 4 servings. This is a very tastey soup.

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2004
The pie came out great. I don't have access to "key limes" or "key lime juice" so I used 1/4 cup of Realemon and 1/4 cup of Realime. I added a pinch of salt to the juice - it is listed in the ingredients, but not mentioned in the directions. When I make the whipped topping I add a tsp of vanilla extract and 3 tbsps white sugar. Next time I make this I might add a drop of green food colouring when I fold in the egg whites.

Phyl's Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2004
Excellent recipe! Just like mom makes haha!! Fantastic taste and nice chunky texture. Way better than store bought. I love how easy it is to accomodate everyone's taste; you can make it hotter or milder just by varying the types and amount of peppers used. The jars store well and last a very long time. I make this recipe all the time. It is a healthy low fat condiment that goes well on everything from scrambled eggs to hot dogs. Well done KB CountryGirl!! ;-)
