I'm a special education teacher and I have three children; a daughter away at college and two teenage boys at home. I love to bake, whether it's scones, biscotti, or cookies. I also enjoy coming up with new and different ways to serve the same old ingredients at dinner time. I rarely leave a recipe alone, but I've learned to write down any changes I make that receive rave reviews from the kids! Whipping up party foods for any occasion, whether we're watching the Super Bowl or hanging out on the deck. Teenage boys seem to love a smorgasbord of options to graze on, and leftovers make great snacks after school! Hmmm...copying a local baker's sugar cookies that my colleagues all love. There are only three ingredients, and it took some time and tweaking, but I finally came up with the perfect combo. The best triumph of all is having a 15 year old boy who is as likely to fix mac and cheese from a box as he is to whip up shrimp scampi or chocolate layer cake with homemade fudge frosting! Making the mistake of believing well-meaning children! They have learned to be honest if I've tried something new, and now they don't get repeats of items they once claimed to love, only to avoid hurting my feelings:-)
