Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This is a very tasty soup and so simple to make. I made this recipe as written except that I used half and half instead of heavy cream. My kids loved it, so that speaks volumes. This will be a staple recipe in my house! Thanks for a great recipe.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
I can't tell you how good these are! I made this recipe as written except I only put in 1/2 tsp ground cloves and that was perfect. Any more than that and it would have been overpowering. Everyone that tried these loved them including my picky kids. I made the glaze that is on the "Pumpkin Cookies V" recipe that has brown sugar in it and OMG it is the best! I turned the cookies upside down and dipped the tops in the glaze. These cookies are so soft and moist and they didn't dry out even after being in a sealed container for 3 days. I now have 3 people asking for the recipe just from the first batch. These are now one of my favorite cookies.

Chocolate Candy Bar Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I made this cake for the girls at work and it was a big hit. I used Butterfinger candy bars instead of chocolate bars which was so good! I made a 2 layer cake and kept it refrigerated and it's definitely a cake that needs to stay cold. Next time, I will try a dark fudge cake mix because devil's food cake is not rich enough for me. Thanks for the recipe. Can't wait to make it with other candy bars!

Anna's Amazing Easy Pleasy Meatballs over Buttered Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I have to give this 2 stars as written. I like french onion soup, but this overpowered the sauce. I pitched it and started over with cream of mushroom soup and beef broth which tasted much better. I added about half a packet of lipton onion soup. My picky kids loved it and ate the leftovers the next day after school. I will only make again without the french onion soup.

Superior Shores Slaw

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this. It is so simple to make and the bacon is a great addition. I did not have celery seed so I added a little celery salt which cut the sweet somewhat. I will make this again.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
I LOVE this recipe! It turned out awesome. I followed the recipe as written for the most part. I continued to cook the butter/sugar/cinnamon mixture on the stove until the sugar was melted. As written, is seemed as though you just melted the butter and then added the sugar and cinnamon. Nothing was stated about making sure the sugar was completely melted, but I went ahead and cooked it on top of the stove for about 3 minutes. I probably used only 4 ounces of Mountain Dew since I was halving the recipe and wanted to make sure they didn't turn out too soupy. I also just poured the Mountain Dew around the dumplings, not directly on top of them. The sugar and cinnamon mixture stayed on top of the dumplings and mixed with the Mountain Dew on the bottom of the baking dish to make a wonderful, thick sauce that was awesome! I served them warm and spooned some of the sauce on top of each. I absolutely love how simple and delicious this recipe is and you could easily do peaches or berries for a change if you like. It reminded me of a cobbler without the doughy-ness. It is now my new favorite recipe!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
I am so disappointed in this recipe. After all of the reviews, I had high hopes. I didn't even bake half of the dough before pitching it. I have tried several different chocolate chip recipes and this was the worst I have ever made. They are very artificial tasting which has to be due to the pudding. They flattened out very little while baking so I flattened the dough before putting them into the oven. They were just bland to me and artificial tasting. My kids didn't even want to try them. I will stick to a recipe without pudding mix in the future.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I really like this but it came out on the grainy side. I'm not sure why, but I have made this several times with margarine and have not had that happen. It still tastes good, but would prefer it smooth. Also, with butter, you get a more toffe flavor and with margarine you get a true caramel flavor. I always cook caramel corn in a large, disposable roasting pan to make it easier to stir without having pieces spill out. Very good either way!

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
This is a fool proof recipe and we loved it! I made it just as stated and baked the caramel corn in a disposable large roasting pan. This was served during the Super Bowl and everyone RAVED about it. We couldn't stop eating it. This is a definite keeper and it was truly easy to make.

These were great. I had the kids help me make them and there was not one left which is unheard of in my house. My kids never finish anything, but they ate every one of them!

Tiger Butter II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
Whoa! This is seriously good and addictive! I only had 12 ounces of white chocolate so I subsituted 2 squares of vanilla confectioner's bark/coating and used 2 cups of creamy peanut butter. I actually microwaved the peanut butter/white chocolated on 70% power and did the same for the dark chocolate. Easy and quick! I normally make peanut butter balls for Christmas, but I think this recipe is better and much easier and certainly less labor intensive. THANKS! This is one of my new favorite recipes!

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
I followed this recipe to a T and it did not come out. When I took the dough out of the bread machine it was so sticky and I couldn't do anything with it. I finally added more flour and kneaded it before spreading it with my fingers onto the pizza pan. The dough was then not the right consistency and made a very doughy crust.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is the best cream cheese frosting. The only thing that I did different was use 2 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar instead of 4 cups. The consistency was nice and thick. I put the frosting on a pumpkin bar recipe. YUM!!!

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is the BEST! I love this cake! I made it exactly as written and put the cream cheese frosting by JJ from this website and it is to die for. The cake is moist and has a great flavor. I did not put the nuts in because I made it for several people that I work with and some do not like nuts. I'm sure it would be great with pecans. This is a keeper and I will definitely make this again.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
There is a reason this is rated so highly. It is the BEST Key Lime Pie that I have ever had! I am not a big Key Lime fan, but my husband is. He raved about it and so did my father who has never eaten Key Lime Pie before. It has never been something that he thought he would like. Well, the entire pie was eaten and I will be making this again. I did not make any changes. Next time, I will consider making mini individual key lime pies. Thanks!!!!!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
My family really liked these! I took the advice of another reviewer and did not beat the eggs, but mixed everything with a fork/spoon. I added semi-sweet chocolate chips which I think works well with the peanut butter flavor more than milk chocolate chips do. My personal opinion only. The brownies were chewy on the edges, but the center was moist/gooey. I think next time I will bake them just a little longer. I wrapped the brownies in plastic wrap and refrigerated because I like them cold and every single one was eaten. Great recipe and thanks for posting!

Best Beer Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
This is really good. The only reason why I rated it 4 stars is that there is too much beer in this recipe. I made it with one 12 ounce can of beer and 2 cans of chicken broth and still had a strong beer presence, not too much for my taste though, just about right. I would definitely make this again with those substitutions.
