About this Cook
I'm a hospice nurse and I cook to relax. I also get a major ego boost from having people enjoy things I have prepared.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, and pies have got to be my all time favorite. Once I discovered lard crusts I've never looked back.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 16 I baked a 7 layer cake for my birthday party. It was spectacular!
My cooking tragedies
When I was first learning to cook I used cornMEAL instead of cornSTARCH in a strawberry pie. Gritty, runny mess!

Cornbread II
This was pretty good cornbread. I increased the sugar to 1/4 cup and followed Evianposh's suggestion of using a cast iron skillet. I also added a drained can of corn to it. I think I like this better than my usual cornbread, so I'm switching!

Corn Yeast Rolls
I had to add another 1/2 cup of water and only baked them for 15 minutes, but I got 12 lovely baseball sized rolls out of this recipe...I would definetly recommend it.

Pseudo Sourdough for the Bread Machine
I don't know that I would call this much of a sourdough, but it is one of the finest loaves of white bread ever to come out of my bread machine. This is going to be my go-to recipe when I want a loaf of white bread for sandwiches or french toast.
