About this Cook
I'm a 30-year-old full time grad student working on a degree in library science. I'm married, no kids yet, but have three dogs who like to pick up after me in the kitchen (you know, because of all the food I end up dropping on the floor). I got my love of cooking from my dad, whose a devotee of Julia Child. My husband makes fun of my cooking, but I think I'm much better than he give me credit for!
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a favorite - I like to experiment and try new recipes. Mostly I'm just really happy when I get positive reactions from those for whom I've cooked. GIves me a chance to brag and share my recipes. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from Hungarian stock on my mother's side, so naturally, I have to have a recipe for Hungarian stuffed cabbage! My sister and I decided to get our recipe the old fashioned way - by watching our mom make it. My mom learned how to make it by watching my grandmother, who in turn learned it from watching my great grandmother. Hopefully I'll get to show my daughters how to make it one day. Now, whenever I have a chance to make the stuffed cabbage, it makes me feel a connection to all those women before me who used the same family recipe!
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook diabetic-friendly foods after I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I can finally make a low-sugar cheesecake that tases good!
My cooking tragedies
I have this bad habit of setting things on fire. This phenomenon only started occuring after I moved in with my now husband. So far I've set the toaster oven on fire about three times, the stove top twice, the microwave once, and once filled the house with so much smoke from a chicken pot pie that boiled over in the oven that we had to leave the doors and windows open all night.

Chicken and Corn Chili
I make this at least once a month. It's extremely easy and very good. I suually top with sour cream and shredded cheese when I searve it.

Cheesy Broccoli Pie
Really good and really easy. Could easily become a one dish meal with the addition of ham or sausage. Thanks!

Pork and Vinegar
I hate how everything I cook in the crockpot tastes like stew. The pork definitely wasn't stew-like - it had a nice flavor. But I didn't care for the stew-y potatoes and carrots. I'll just leave them out next time.
