Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Delicious! Very easy and kid-friendly. Use a little less pasta if you like your mac and cheese very saucy -- this wasn't overly saucy, but had great flavor. It's easy to make changes according to your likes.

Snickerdoodles III

What I liked best about these is that they have half the fat (most snickerdoodle recipes call for a whole cup of shortening - no thanks!) but the same taste you look for when making these. I made a batch and froze them for school lunches.

Tacos De Matamoros

My kids won't eat taco meat seasoned with grocery store packets. This recipe, especially the technique, makes the meat a totally different texture, and much more pleasing to my family overall. I'm curious to try it seasoned different ways, but have made it several times this way. The crumbly, salty cheese is delicious!

The Best Lemon Bars

These are perfect. I used the suggestion to use 2/3C of lemon juice (3 good-sized lemons) and a little less sugar. My kids love lots of the lemon custard. I add zest to the shortbread. Delicious.

Bean Soup

Delicious. I loved Campbell's Bean with Bacon soup as a kid, and this has a similar flavor, but is a much better soup. I use dried pinto beans.

These are labor intensive, but delicious. Lots of cardamom flavor. You can make a version of these for many different cultures by changing the spices and substituting cabbage for the leek.

Beef Bulgogi

This recipe is ridiculously good! Our flank steak was almost 2 lbs and I'm glad we had more. Red leaf lettuce is a little flimsy to hold everything, so I'll use butter lettuce next time. We made our lettuce wraps with rice, rooster sauce, the bulgogi and asian cucumber salad. Fail proof!

Frosted Zucchini Cookies

We use it as a gyro: same basic seasonings, but with tzatziki sauce (also on this site), lettuce, tomato, and onion on flatbread from Trader Joe's. When I mix one pound of lamb and one pound of ground beef together with the spices, it tastes like it came from a restaurant.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

One son loves this, the other thinks it's fine, but wouldn't ask for it. The one who loves it actually craves it. Different tastes, I suppose. I use kale and turkey italian sausage.
