Spinach Tortellini Soup

First off ... I do not like spinach. But I had a box in the freezer, did not know what to have for dinner so tried this recipe exactly.... soup was great tasting. Hard to believe something so fast & easy to make could be so tasty. I tried a little parmesan cheese in one area and did not care for it ... it covered up the good taste of the soup.

Seven Layer Gelatin Salad

I've made this for over 20 years but I use sour cream instead of the evaporated milk. Use to take me hours to make it till I starte putting each layer in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Don't leave it in the freezer too long or the layers won't stick to each other.

Sausage Stuffed Jalapenos

WONDERFUL --just had these as a snack and really loved them. Tried many recipes for jalapenos but none have been as delicious as this one. WOW. It is definitely a keeper and one we will use often.

haven't tried this recipe yet but on this site is a recipe for homemade pickled ginger ---which is very easy to make and thought you all might like to try making your own pickled ginger.

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

excellent streusel topping. I only had one pie crust so needed a recipe for a crumb topping and this one was the one I tried. I used my own mix for the apple spices tho.

Szechwan Shrimp

Real good taste ---enjoyed it very much. Will mince the garlic really fine next time tho. I made the sauce and cooked it till almost thick and then added the shrimp to warm and coat with sauce.

Rich and Creamy Roasted Eggplant Soup

Really enjoyed this soup altho it was very thin ---I would thicken it up next time. I did use more eggplant cause we grow the long thin ones and also 8 cloves of garlic and 1 & 1/2 cup of heavy cream. My hubby liked it with the feta cheese ---I liked it better without the cheese.

Carrot Soup 'a la Louise'

A thick, rich, creamy DELICIOUS soup. We really enjoyed it for dinner last night. And I have been making soup for 2 years now every Wednesday and this is one of the best I've made. One thing tho ---use a food processor to slice the carrots --I did mine by hand & it took forever to do.

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Wednesday is soup day at our house. Each week for the past 1-1/2 years we've had a different soup from this website. Only 2 or 3 were not good. The rest were great and this is one of the great ones. I did use roasted garlic and 1/2 & 1/2 cream. My hubby loved it and he doesn't like asparagus. It's a keeper for sure.

Red Pepper Soup

Excellent taste. Soup is on the thin side tho. I used yellow, gold & red peppers as that is what I had in the freezer ---also added more than the recipe called for. Usee a hand blender and didn't strain it. Was a great dinner with some saltines.

Spinach Garlic Soup

I don't even like spinach but loved this soup. Made it for my hubby but I tasted it and wanted more. I did use a 10 oz package of frozen spinach and used a electric hand blender to puree it. Also upped the flour to 1/3 Cup. Great recipe.

Mushroom Stuffing Balls

Made this several times and loved it each time. Did use less eggs. Put the stuff in a small food processor to cut down the work. Usually eat them all up at once ---but had a few left over from a couple days ago put the in the refrig. Ate one today ---cold---were even better than when fresh out of the oven. Will be making this often. Do NOT use plain bread crumbs as they will taste bland ---really need the seasoned bread crumbs.

Oma's Cottage Cheesecake

I've made this cheesecake several times. It is delicious and also cost a lot less than one using cream cheese. I like adding some ground up/small pieces of macadamia nuts once in a while. To the person who thought it lumpy ---if you blend all the ingredients long enough it will be very smooth.

Breakfast Sausage

Been looking for a pork sausage recipe for awhile ---tried this one the other day and it turned out great. So much tastier than store bought pork sausage. Will be making our own from now on. Used pork shoulder (butt) roast that was on sale real cheap.
