About this Cook
I am 46 years old, live in a small town close to my birth town. I love cooking no matter how many people I might have to cook for. I sometimes follow recipes, but most times I just wing it. Tasting is the key to having something turn out great in the end.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook would be first Mexican, then German then Italian
My favorite family cooking traditions
I dont really have many family cooking traditions, other then my mothers famous Butter tarts and Chocolate Chip Cookies.
My cooking triumphs
I would say my talent is making homemade soups and sauces, no recipe required.
My cooking tragedies
It wasnt really a tragedy but, I made Eggplant Parmesan, and my husband dispised it......he thought it was the worst thing I ever made.

Banana Fritters
These fritters are very moist and tasty. I added 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavour. They seem to cook too fast at 375 F, so I set my oil at 350 and cooked them approx. 6 mins. Also took icing sugar and milk, mixed to a thick drizzle consistency and drizzle over the fritters

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
Its a great cheesecake recipe, but not an authentic New York cheesecake. I prefer to use a shortbread crust with all my cheesecakes. Here is the recipe for this crust # 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour # 1/3 cup white sugar # 1 egg, beaten # 1/2 cup butter, softened Mix all ingredients together and press into a 9" springform pan, bake at 400 degree oven for 15 min, remove and let cool. I also fill a pan with 1-2" of water and place it in the oven when baking the cheesecake, this prevents cracks in the surface

Souvlaki
There is a very important point left out in this recipe. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them for 1 hour in water, this prevents the wood from burning on the grill
