I'm a married mom of 3 ,grandma of 4. I'm not retired, but I an fortunate that I no longer need to work. For the past 7 years I've been able to spend more time in the kitchen, reviving my love of cooking. I started messing..and I do mean messing in the kitchen when I was about 7 and have enjoyed it for the past 40+ years.
My favorite things to cook
I don't think I have a favorite. Every holiday brings out many old favorites, but I alway add at least 1 or 2 new things. During the week I can whip up a quick meal as easily as making a beef wellington.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are a blended home, so we have Christmas & Easter..Chanukah & Passover. Needless to say I COOK alot of holiday meals.
The kids ALWAYS pick the vegetables.
Thanksgiving: the biggest turkey the store carries - at least 30 lbs, homemade apple/cranberry sauce, sausage/chestnut stuffing.
Christmas: Standing pork roast w/wild rice and spiced apples.
Easter: Prime Rib
Passover: Pot Roast, homemade chicken soup w/matzoh balls, chocolate torte
Chanukah: London Broil
My cooking triumphs
Beef Wellington someting that scared the heck out of me, once I made it, has because at least a once a month meal in my home.
My son & daughter-in-laws wedding cake.. craziest thing I ever undertook, thank goodness I had someone who encouraged me the whole way thru.
My cooking tragedies
First time I grilled tuna, was almost my last, it was the only time my husband refused to eat.. took me out for dinner and we threw the fish AWAY..didn't even give it to the dog.
