About this Cook
Well I'm not exactly new to the cooking scene, but the majority of my experiences are in baking. So making actual meals is still fairly new to me. I've been married for almost a 2 years now and have a wonderful little boy and newborn girl. I like to stay active and try new things. I love to cook for my family and find new staples for our household. My husband is a pretty picky eater (though he says he'll eat anything) I know when he eats the whole plate he likes it...lol. My son is a good eater and only recently has started to shy away from his veggies so he's a pretty good judge on a meal too. :) I love to bake and recently moved to an area around 6000 feet above sea level so I get to learn all over again since high altitude changes everything.
My favorite things to cook
I really am a fan of baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up my family didn't really have any cooking traditions, but my DH and I are slowly creating our own.
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm...I made my first turkey a couple of months ago (around Easter time). It turned out moist and flavorful (with some great tips from my mother-in-law). My mother's turkey usually turns out a little dry. Oh and making cinnamon rolls during x-mas. I made about 4 batches for various friends and I think the biggest accomplishment was not giving up after the second batch. (kneading the dough was torture being 8 1/2 months pregnant...lol!) *UPDATE* So I've actually started baking our breads and making tortillas by hand, it is soooo easy to do and much cheaper than buying stuff full of preservatives. Very yummy! The only downfall is the time consumption but most of that is dead time (not active time) so its worth it. I bake several loaves and either freeze the dough already shaped or bake them all and slice the extra loaves and freeze the slices in plastic wrap and a freezer bag or tupperware in the freezer.
My cooking tragedies
Well the most memorable tragedy was about 6 years ago, I made my first cake and icing from scratch. The icing got burnt and I didn't wait long enough before trying to remove the cake so it fell into pieces. Otherwise my most recent tragedy would be the tortillas I made last week, they tasted a lot like breakfast pancakes. (YAY for no more pancake tortillas...lol)

Stuffed Green Peppers
Delicious! I've made Kelsey's favorite peppers from the site and that is pretty good but my husband and I decided these were much better! I used cheddar cheese and only put a half slice on the bottom and a slice on top...I also used half brown and half white rice (what i had on hand) and used diced tomatoes with jalapenos for some kick which we love! Added about half the amount of chili powder and about 1 1/2 tsp-2 tsp of garlic salt...yum yum yum!

Pasta with Asparagus
Wonderful! I omitted the mushrooms since our family isn't mushroom fans...used some homemade stock I had made the other day, added 4 minced garlic cloves and a couple extra pinches of red pepper...oh and a pinch of salt and pepper...putting this in my "WILL MAKE AGAIN" drawer!

Banana Crumb Muffins
These are by far the best banana muffins I've made! I did add about 1/2 tsp. of vanilla to a double batch. I got 18 regular muffins and a full tin of mini muffins. Perfect!
