About this Cook
I am a 73 yrs old, wife and grandmother to 8 living in an active gated retirement community. I am a member of our First Aid Auxiliary supporting the local First Aid Rescue and Squad. I am also active in several clubs in the community.
My favorite things to cook
I liked to cook anything and everything except I am not interested in desserts, cakes or cookies now as I am a diabetic and found a very few I like in sugar free desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Shepherds pie, turkey burgers, Sweet and Sour meatballs. Rosh Hashonah, Passover, and Chanukah dinners. Birthday dinners for our friends.
My cooking triumphs
Passover Dinner for 23. It was a big hit. I even made the sponge and honey cakes. I made Cioppino dinner for us and 2 other couples, actually did it twice for the same couples they loved it so much.
My cooking tragedies
Sauerbraten. Made it for company for the first time. Nobody liked it. Never made it again. I was mad at my husband and children when they were young and made a fish dinner nobody liked. Made them eat it! Of course, I didn't.

Coffee Shake
Enjoyed the coffee shake, tasted just like coffee shake at Starbucks. I modified recipe as I am a diabetic and WW member. Used 1 packet of WW French Vanilla powder, sugar free French Vanilla CoffeeMate cream, and Splenda instead of sugar. I've also used Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup instead of the CoffeeMate. YUMMIE.

Sweet And Sour Glazed Chicken
I have been making this recipe for almost 50 years. 2 boxes of onion soup mix is way too much. Bake uncovered if the sauce is too thin, or just thicken the sauce with a slurry (flour or cornstarch). My family loved the extra sauce over rice or noodles. I only use thighs because breast meat is too dry. I also make extra to freeze for another day. My DH and children (when they lived at home) liked this dish better the second time around.

Shrimp Scampi V
Just read some of the reviews...how can reviewers say they did not like the recipe when the reviewers change the recipe. You can't review an opinion if you don't make it correctly. I followed a few of the reviews that said the wine was too much. I cut back on the wine and it was wonderful. I only use whole wheat pasta for health reason. Found it to be pretty good.
