Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Simple recipe that tastes terrific. It's a good everyday loaf, easily sliced for sandwiches. I have made it at least 10 times now, and it is good as is, or with whole wheat flour substituted for 1/2-1 cup of the flour. Thanks for sharing this terrific recipe.

Middle Eastern Rice with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
The flavors in this recipe are absolutely terrific. I backed off a bit on the cayenne pepper keep things from getting too hot, but otherwise kept everything the same. I would not omit the parsley and cilantro if you can help it - they really add to the dish. I was very glad that the recipe made so much - I have been enjoying the leftovers for lunch! I can definitely see this as a vegetarian dish and omitting the meat altogether. I look forward to cooking this recipe that way for my vegetarian in-laws. I served this with a salad made from diced fresh tomato and marinated mushrooms.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
This was absolutely delicious. Balance the sweetness of the salmon with something less seasoned. New potatoes, broccoli would be good with this. I had some leftover spinach in phyllo that I served along side, and it balanced nicely. I'm going to try this recipe on the grill next. Thanks for a wonderful recipe, truly delicious.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
The flavor combinations are very good in this recipe. Skinning a whole chicken was very interesting! Since the meat does fall off the bone, I think I will try this recipe next with a cut up chicken - I think the pieces would be easier to skin. I ended up taking all the meat off the bones and serving it over rice. I thickened the sauce a little at the end with some corn starch. I also read the previous reviews, and decided to try the recipe without the oils, and that was fine. I did cook it breast down in the slow cooker, and all the meat was moist. I have enjoyed the leftovers on tortillas as well. Thanks for the recipe.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
I used fresh mushrooms as some others have done - just sauteed them in the butter at the beginning, adding the flour and continuing with the recipe as written. The sherry is a delicious touch. My mother always used to make tetrazzini with leftover chicken and turkey - her recipe included blanched almonds. I think I will try adding some almonds next time I make this - they add a nice crunch to the tetrazzini. This was so easy and delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

BBQ Chicken Pizza II

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2006
Very good. I had the good fortune to come across this recipe when I had some leftover grilled chicken and a pizza shell in the refrigerator. I did not use quite as much sauce as the recipe calls for, and I used a mix of cheeses - that's what was on hand. The red pepper adds a lot. I used hickory flavored bbq sauce - we prefer the smokey taste of this to the regular bottled red stuff. Thanks for the recipe.

Zucchini Puffs

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2006
These are so easy and quick. They are also fairly flexible. I only had one egg the second time I made these, and they came out just fine. I have also used both plain flour and baking mix and it turns out great either way. Everyone enjoys these, too - my husband hovering as I cook them, waiting for them to be ready, to the 2 yr old, who refused everything else at dinner and ate only zucchini puffs. I can't wait until the zucchini in the garden is ready - I have been buying a lot of zucchini in order to make these. Thanks for a wonderful recipe.

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
This is a terrific soup. It is easy, the ingredients are readily available, and it tastes like heaven. I did not quite have enough cream, made up the difference with milk. I think I'll try this again with just milk and see how it turns out. I think if you mashed some of the potato and used milk you would get that creamy effect without the insane calorie count from the cream. Did I mention this soup also looks great? The chunks of potato, green leek and bacon look super. If you reserve a few leek circles when you are chopping, it makes a great garnish. Thanks!

Our family really enjoyed this. It was mild enough for the kids, nice texture for the adults. We whipped up some homemade tartar sauce and it made a super meal. Thanks!

Tuna Italiano

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
Our family enjoyed this - my husband and myself in particular. The kids were less enhusiastic. I read the previous reviews and decided to add a can of cream soup, especially since I did not have any tuna in olive oil. I plan to fix this again, as written. The flavor combo of tuna, olive, and chickpeas is a good one.

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
I was also looking for a sweet potato recipe that wasn't full of brown sugar and marshmallows. This was perfect. Everyone in the family enjoyed it. I plan on using this recipe frequently this summer when we're doing a lot of grilling - this will be a perfect side dish, and I may try this on the grill, too. Thanks for the recipe!

Apricot-Cherry Bars With Oatmeal Crumble Topping

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
Very sweet. The overwhelming sweetness overpowered the natural sweetness of the apricots and the delicious tart dried cherries. Not something I would make again. But I give it 2 stars because all the ladies in my bible study wanted the recipe! Tastes are different.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
Served this with a salad of mixed greens, tart dried cherries, toasted pine nuts, and herbed cheese. The salad was delicious with the dressing. I do think I will cut the sugar back when I make this again - DH likes it as is! Thanks for a great dressing.

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Very delicious soup. I added an extra can of black beans- I love black beans! Instead of pureeing the beans and tomatoes, I mashed the beans with a fork and that worked well.
