About this Cook
My name is Barb. I am in my late 20's and a married mom of three preschoolers.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake pies, cakes, cookies and breads. I love to experiment and trying different ethnic dishes. I love using interesting ingredients and am never without my pistol and mortar for blending spices and flavors
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am always designated the dessert maker for all birthdays and family functions.
My cooking triumphs
Baking for my sisters wedding, everyone was impressed.
My cooking tragedies
Sadly I can never seem to get pancakes right they are either burned or underdone no matter how many times I attempt them. That is why I love the baked pancakes (german pancakes or blintz) no flipping guess times!

South Dakota Sunflower Seed Cookies
This was a very different type of cookie. Nutty and savory-sweet. I really liked it. I made a fwe changes due to the other comments. I used half of the baking soda, added a half cup more of coconut and sunflower seeds, 1/4 tsp of salt and also an egg (which hlped bind the batter better)

Chickpea Curry
I just loved this dish! I added one tbsp of chicken bulion powder to make it a little more savory (which is the way I am used to it at my favorite Indian restaurant) I also cut the cayenne down to 1?2 as tsp because I was serving this to my kids as well. It was a hit! Thank you for this recipe, I will use it again and again!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies
Perfect light and crispy, melt in your mouth cookie. I even cheaped out and used Becel margerine. I think the key to this recipe is long wipping time. I added chocolate chips after the wipping and used a floured bottom of a glass to lightly press for a uniform flat look. I used a mini 1tsp cookie scoop to measure the dough. The result were cookies that looked and tasted just like the Dad's chocolate chip shortbread cookies that my husband loves. Thanks for the recipe!
