Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
5 stars: for how beautiful these cookies are, 4 stars: because my 3 year old could help me roll them in icing sugar without getting very dirty hands, 3 stars: because of the taste. I miss something! Because they are so pretty, I will make them again with an addition; coffee, peppermint extract, almond extract or coconut. My kids call them ' snow cookies'.

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I don't know brittle & I don't understand what it has to be like. I used golden syrup, bc corn syrup isn't available in my country. I got three different textures! Chewy part, crunchy part and a part which was like fudge. I like the taste very much. Will try again when I can buy corn syrup somewhere.

Oatmeal Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Instead of the toffee baking bits, I added 1 cup of chopped sugar coated peanuts & 1/4 cup of coconut, and 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. Very good! But these cookies stay soft; I like the oatmeal crisps from this site much better. Maybe I'll try that recipe and add the chopped sugar coated peanuts.

This cookie surprised me, bc of the taste you get from only using butter, flour and sugar. Dough is easy to handle. I like the center, and the fact that when you use a different kind of jam, the taste will change too. One dissapointment: they look ugly! I am determined to find a way to make them prettier...

Picadillo

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
It looked like a lot of spices, but was wonderful!! I added some salt, omitted the lime. We had it with taco's and shredded cheese. The flavours are really great with taco's! I added raisins, chopped almonds, olives, capers and vinegar and let it simmer for a while, because I think in 5 minutes the flavours can not blend together. Maybe next time I will not add the capers, bc they don't go very well with the other ingredients.

Oatmeal Crispies I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
Delicious cookies! I used only butter. I guess I shaped the roll too thick. The cookies were not crisp in ten minutes, but chewy. I had to bake five times in my oven, because there were so many! The second time I baked, I made them smaller, and now they were crisp, which I like better. Cutting the cookies didn't work for me, so next time I will only cool the dough and roll SMALL balls.(because they spread a lot) Dipping the fork in milk and flatten them, works fine as long as you dip after each flattening. From now on I will only use half or a third of the recipe. * update: I forgot to put the nuts in, and also forgot to dip them with milk, and they were delicious!! My daugther keeps asking for another one..and another...

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
I shouldn't call these cookies, more like a chocolate candy. Very rich. My husband didn't like them, (too sweet)When the mixture boiled, I didn't stirr any more, boiled for 3 minutes. After putting in the oats, pn butter and vanilla, I stirred very well and fast. The cookies set up very fast and they are beautifully shining. Next time I will try adding some peppermint extract instead of vanilla.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
I used only a few chocolate chips and added 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1-2 tbsp of sesame seeds. I mixed everything together on low speed in my kitchenaid mixer. Pressed everything down with wet hands in pan. Came out perfect. Cut it when still a little bit warm. Easy, easy so easy recipe.

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

I din't like these very much. After the third cookie I felt sick. Maybe I'll try again with some moderations (vanilla, brown sugar) because the recipe is so easy.

Smoked Salmon Vodka Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
This is so good. Instead of the tomato sauce, I just pureed 5 small tomatoes, I added a clove of chopped garlic, chili powder and shrimps. Sauce was a nice pink colour. Usually I have a pasta vodka recipe with bacon in it, but will use only this recipe from now on.

Chocolate Cookie Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
Wow! I like the cranberry hootycreeks cookies from this site VERY much, but these are very good too! Didn't make the jar yet. If you like nuts, you HAVE to put them in, they are so much better with them. I was surprised at the taste, even the dough alone was very yummie. Keeper.

Garlic Cheese Flatbread

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
This recipe I will definatey use again! I never managed to make a good foccacia, this bread is a wonderful alternative. I was very surprised my dough wasn't sticky at all. But I didn't use fresh garlic at first. When I added the garlic, the dough became sticky! So I suppose it's the garlic which makes it sticky. My first one was a little bland, so I sprinkled some sea salt on top, yummm. On the second one, I put some halved cherry tomatoes, yuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Again, the dough wasn't sticky at all. I didn't even have to use any extra flour to roll out the dough, amazing!! I let rise it for at least one hour. I will experiment a lot with this recipe I think.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
I think when you want to make this seasoning less spicy, you have to cut down the red pepper flakes and not the chili powder.I did add about 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes and used a mortar and pestle. The seasoning was not spicy at all; just a very nice flavour! Nice, nice, nice present also. I used ground beef but I think it will be yummie with chicken breasts, too.

Creamy Broccoli Soup

I like this soup only for dipping bread or breadsticks in it. Maybe next time I will not add the flour-milk mixture, because without it the soup was a wonderful greeen colour and nice taste.

Banana Cupcakes

I also used cream cheese instead of butter. Without frosting the cakes were okay, but with the frosting perfect. I put some cinnamon in half of the batter; with the cinnamon the cakes (actually: muffins) tastes better!

Dallas-Style Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Good recipe. A lot of ketchup, but turns out very good. To make it a little spicier, I added a teaspoon of cayenne powder. I let it simmer for one hour and made it one day before. The meat became more 'sticky' after half an hour simmer.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
I omitted the nuts. Instead, I added 1/4 cup of dried cranberries and put some on top. Also I used pieces of good quality chocolate (72% cacao). We ate the muffins when they were still warm, and the melting chocolate came out.....yum... I added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Nice dark colour inside. I like the combo of the cranberries and dark chocolate very much.

As long as you dont melt the butter but soften it, this is a great recipe. I used it on pita bread, with some extra parmesan cheese.
