Make these for Christmas every year. Love the chocolate/peanut butter combination of flavors. This recipe has been around for a long time, and is always a favorite!!!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
When you beat this I would definitely use an electric mixer, and not do it by hand. It mixes up way easier, and gets really fluffy and good. Put on top of the Sour Cream Banana Cake recipe from this site. Very good!

Too much work to make this a layer cake, so just put into the 9x13 pan. I put cream cheese frosting on top. Very moist & really good!!

Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I added a few things to this recipe. To the vegetable mixture you sautee, I also added 1 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp sage, & 1/4 tsp thyme. I also increased the turkey amount to 2 cups. I also cheated & used a premade refrigerated pie crust. Delicious!!! This is definitely something I will make again!

Did not have any trouble with these sticking, like some other people have. I greased my pan with crisco. Followed recipe exactly. Put into the fridge for about 2 hours before trying to cut. Was a fantastic easy recipe to make! A keeper for sure!! Thanks for the great recipe.

Egg Salad English Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
We love egg salad, but never thought of heating it up and serving like this, glad I came across this recipe. The only thing I did differently, was to add a small amount of grated onion, and some black pepper. Other than that did exactly as recipe called for. We thought was quite easy to make and very tasty!

Creamy Orange Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
We live in a town of about 25,000 people, and have 4 grocery stores, but none had an orange cake mix, so substitued a lemon cake mix. It was the closest thing I could find. Other than that, didn't change a thing. Very good and moist. Definitely a keeper!!!

Amish Hash Browns

I also used red potoatoes, like another reviewer and left the skins on. I put them through my food processer to shred them, along with the onion. I did cut the recipe in half, and added 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed, and 1/2 tsp. of dried parsley flakes, and also a ran a couple of cloves of garlic through the processor with the potatoes and onions. I used peanut oil to fry them in, instead of regular veg. oil. My husband really liked them, and I thought they were very good also, although they do tend to be on the greasy side.

Caramel Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I didn't have any caramels, so made my own by cooking together 1/4 c. REAL butter, 1/4 c. white corn syrup, 1/8 tsp. salt, and 1/2 c. packed brown sugar. Take off of heat & add 1/8 tsp. baking soda, and 1/8 tsp. of vanilla. Baked for the full 40 minutes. Pretty tasty.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I did add the grated carrot, but not the pimentos. Otherwise made exactly as written. The taste was very good, but the longer the salad sat, the drier it got. I like a creamier macaroni salad, so next time I would either cut the macaroni in half, or double the sauce. Other than that, though was just fine as written.

Primo Spaghetti Sauce

Too Sweet, too thick, and too many different flavor combinations going on. Bought a lot of extra spices and wines that I wouldn't normally buy just to make this recipe.

Barbecue Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
If I could rate this higher than five stars, I would! Could only find a 3# roast at grocery store, so used that with same amount of sauce. Glad I did, or I think it would have gotten a little dry. Other than increasing the amount of sauce wouldn't change a thing. Served on "homemade" hamburger buns from the bakery, with a noodle salad and chips. Was a great hit with everyone, taste and texture of the roast as opposed to using ground beef in barbecues is out of this world!

Let soak in the milk for about 3 hours, definitely does take the bitter taste out. Make sure you don't overcook, or it will get tough. Very good!

Church Supper Hot Dish

Didn't have any chow mein noodles, so precooked egg noodles, and used them instead. Also, I was worried the veggies wouldn't be fully cooked in 20 mins, so baked covered for more like 35-40 minutes, then uncovered, put the cheese on, and baked for another 10-15 until cheese was melted and browned. Really good, even better the next day.

Crispy Marshmallow Balls

I did use real butter, not margarine. They are a little messy to make, but so worth the effort! Really sweet, but so tasty. My mom used to make these when I was little, and never had the recipe until now. Thanks so much!!

Habanero Hellfire Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Couldn't find a couple of things in our northern south dakota town of 25,000. No fresh habenero's or chili paste. Used pickled habenero's and just omitted the chili paste. Other than that did exactly as recipe called for. We like spicy food, so very good, if you don't like spicy, don't bother, you will hate it. Thanks, great chili recipe!!

Pineapple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I only had a 20 0z. can of crushed pineapple, and didn't know what I would do with the remainder, so decided to double the recipe, put into a 9x13 pan, and use the whole can of pineapple. I also did use 2 bananas, and cut them thinly, and put on top of the bottom crust. Very yummy if you love a pina colada flavor!
