I started cooking when I was about 9 years old. I have a Masters Degree in Nutrition so my job is giving food advice and I love it. I come from a large family (8 kids) and now have 4 children of my own to cook for. They aren't very good sports about things, but real people love my cooking. My husband also loves my cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make almost anything. I don't like too many froo froo things, but I love a hearty meal and a great pot of soup or stew and flambouyant dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making cheeseballs for all the Sunday School teachers, each year I end up making more for others.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say passing along cooking to the next generation. Also, getting my husband to cook for me. Last year he made us a beautiful candlight Valentines menu with hang on crab and lobster tails. It was awesome. Having my daughter (21) call me to tell me about her first meatloaf dinner, also helping my 10 year old making Christmas cookies.
My cooking tragedies
Some stews I got a little too creative on when I was younger and threw in every herb in the spice drawer, also my first cheese cake - made in college I thought the cream cheese would melt like regular cheese so I didn't mix it well enough - I was baking for a group of frat boys who came to our co-op hall, I was very embarrased but the lumpy filling, but I don't even remember what they thought of it.
