Busy Mom of Four!
About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom with four young children. We don't get out much so having company over for dinner is a great source of entertainment for us.I really enjoy perusing recipes to come up with a full menu.I really enjoy chatting with wine & cooking together.
My favorite things to cook
I try to eat low carb & I am always looking for new recipe ideas where I can substitute different vegetables for starches , pasta, breading etc.

Gyros Burgers
I didn't want to make burgers, wanted more traditional Gyros so I used this recipe but the method from "Traditional Gyro Meat" to prepare the meat.It was really really yummy!!!Great blend of spices!!I just used about 1/8-1/4 cup of bread crumbs instead of toasting bread and making them.

Cheesy Breads
I was not pleased with my results. I was hopeful that it would be really yummy based on the reviews but , man, was I disappointed. I made it for our "Survivor" get together & it was hardly touched. The mayo made it really rich. I would say forget the mayo & ranch mix & used garlic butter on the bread, then the cheese , olives & green onions.

Dash's Donair
It seems some people are getting Gyros (Greek) mixed up with Donairs (Lebanese).I used to work in a Donair Shop in New Glasgow, N.S.& have never had anything even close to it here in Ontario. Two tips:1) mix the sauce as little as possible & slowly add the vinegar.2)moisten the pita with water & heat it up in a pan with some drippings from the meat.It should be baked on a rack in a pan.I usually make 5 lbs of meat at a time & freeze half for a donair pizza later.Pizza Delight, Cambridge,Ont. is the only place I've found that makes a decent donair like home!!!
