About this Cook
I have been married since 1970, have 2 grown children and 2 cats. I work full time, so I don't have as much time to cook as I would like. Have been cooking and baking for 40+ years. Taking foods class in high school inspired me and that's when I got hooked. My cooking has evolved over the years, from simple recipes to more complicated ones. I am more comfortable creating my own recipes now and love to do different things with vegetables.
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are Italian, Vegetarian and comfort foods. I love to bake cookies, pies and cakes. I enjoy cooking with many different vegetables that I get at the farmers market in the summer.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At our family Christmas gathering, everyone has their favorites dishes they always bring, usually the same every year.....my sisters jello salad, cranberries with marshmallows and deviled eggs. I usually always bring the cookies, pies and cranberries. It's always good every year.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever my family is happy with what I make, I consider a triumph, and that is most of the time.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many tragedies, however I have learned from them.

Chocolate Anise Cookies with Dried Cherries
I wondered how these would turn out with only 1/2 cup flour. They tasted pretty good, however I thought it was not worth the effort to make these, I only got 20 cookies. The dough had to be chilled two times and was not that easy to work with. My son really loved them though, but he will have to make his own :-)

Lemon Chicken Piccata
I would definitely make this again. I just love piccata, and this sauce has just the right amount of lemon and capers. I however, did not put the lemon slices in the sauce, as I did not have enough for the juice, but it was still delicious. Next time I will make sure I have 2 lemons.

Cherry Bell Cookies
These cookies taste very good, and I recommend this recipe if you like a soft cookie. I made mine round and put the filling and cherry in the center and they were still very pretty.
