About this Cook
I have been married since 1970, have 2 grown children and 2 cats. I work full time, so I don't have as much time to cook as I would like. Have been cooking and baking for 40+ years. Taking foods class in high school inspired me and that's when I got hooked. My cooking has evolved over the years, from simple recipes to more complicated ones. I am more comfortable creating my own recipes now and love to do different things with vegetables.
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are Italian, Vegetarian and comfort foods. I love to bake cookies, pies and cakes. I enjoy cooking with many different vegetables that I get at the farmers market in the summer.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At our family Christmas gathering, everyone has their favorites dishes they always bring, usually the same every year.....my sisters jello salad, cranberries with marshmallows and deviled eggs. I usually always bring the cookies, pies and cranberries. It's always good every year.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever my family is happy with what I make, I consider a triumph, and that is most of the time.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many tragedies, however I have learned from them.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup
This soup is excellent. I did use onion instead of leek, only because I didn't have leek. Also I added about 3/4 cup chopped celeriac (celery root) just because I needed to use it up. I will definately make this soup again, without my changes. I know that it will still be great.

Rhubarb Pudding Cake
We really loved this recipe. Just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. I did, however use 4 cups of rhubarb. I think it needed that much. I might try it with some strawberries next time. Mmmmm.....strawberry/rhubarb. Great recipe.
