I'm a stay at home mom giving school a go again (Nursing)...I cook 80% of our weekly meals but finding things that everyone likes is a bit tough right now w/ my daughter's ages (7 and 9)...sometimes the meals I experiment with leave one person eating grilled cheese in lieu of! lol
My favorite things to cook
Anything I can toss in a crockpot and/or ethnic foods! My husband and I love Thai, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Chinese foods so we are always looking for new things to try at home.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being of Mexican American heritage, my mother made these wonderful time consuming Gorditas from scratch! I always chose this as my birthday meal which would follow by a Baked Alaska! My mother is a world class cook and could rival any professional Pastry Chef !
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to temper as well as making gravies! I spent my early 20's messing up gravies that my mother would always have to step in! lol Making my first Bechamel sauce was just as big as making an A on a school paper! :)
My cooking tragedies
I don't think I really have any- if a recipe is too difficult I am not there yet w/ the confidence to give it a try. I hope to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner w/ no help this year. I will let you know how that goes and if that falls into the triumph's or tragedies section!
