Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
I made two batches of these muffins, one with walnuts and one without. They were absolutely delicious either way! I took a basket to work and my co-workers raved. The topping really adds something special to them. I'll definitely make them again.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
This cornbread comes out very dense and heavy-- more like a cake than cornbread. It tastes good, but it's so heavy that one slice is like a whole meal. I think I'll look for something a little lighter next time.

Cinnamon Pear Frozen Yogurt

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2006
This has a very different, unusual flavor. I wasn't sure that I liked it at first, but it really grew on me. It was very easy to make, although the yogurt didn't get solid enough in the ice cream maker and had to be put in the freezer. I might make this again and would recommend it to others who are looking for something a little different for dessert.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
I lessened the soy sauce, after reading some previous complaints about the soy flavor being too strong. The result is a subtle but tasty marinade. Easy to make. I'll use it again.

Pineapple Angel Food Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2006
The addition of the pineapple makes the angel food much too dense for the cooking time specified. I cooked it for 25 minutes and my cake collapsed. This cake really needs 35-40 minutes of cooking time if it is to stay intact.

Feta Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
This recipe was very easy to make, but the taste was too bland for my family. The consistency of the feta didn't work very well with the chicken, in my opinion. It just clumped up instead of melting into the chicken, and the flavors weren't infused into the chicken when baking. I don't think I'd make this again.

Bella's Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
I make this recipe often and it is always well received. It's very simple to make and the potatoes taste amazing. I use olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Enjoy!

Nana's Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
As recommended by other reviewers, I made 1.5x the topping and I used 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar when making this recipe. It was really easy to make, but the taste was just okay. I used 6 Granny Smith apples and think I should have added more. The apples reduce quite a bit when cooking, and with the extra topping there wasn't enough apple. I served it with vanilla ice cream and think the apple crisp would have been a little bland without it. I think this could be great with a little experimentation, though.

Death by Chocolate

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
Very good! This was a big hit with my friends. I halved the recipe for a smaller group and it worked just fine. I used crushed Skor bars for the candy and also included layers of sliced fresh strawberries, which added an extra special something to the recipe. I will definitely be making this again!

Baked Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
What a great recipe! Incredibly easy to make and very tasty. My husband and friends loved it. I scaled the recipe to 4 servings and used 4 skinless chicken breasts instead of thighs. I also marinated the chicken breasts in the apricot mixture for an hour before baking and then served them over brown rice. I will absolutely make this recipe again-- it is delicious!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2003
I made this cake for a local holiday party and was awarded a prize for "best presentation." Not only does this cake look impressive (I topped it with raspberries in addition to the chocolate curls) it tastes great too. Not too sweet, with a definite tiramisu flavor. It took longer to make than I had anticipated, but the results were pretty impressive.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
I made these cookies for my annual Christmas party and they were fantastic! The cranberries and white chocolate taste amazing together. I didn't use the brandy (just because I didn't have any on hand) and substituted vanilla instead. These cookies are my new holiday favorites!

Fantastic Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
This chili won me first place at a Super Bowl chili cook-off this weekend!! I'm not the hugest chili fan, personally-- but this is a really tasty dish. The only change I made to the recipe was adding 1 tsp. red pepper flakes. I will definitely make this again (and everyone at the Super Bowl party demanded the recipe after they tasted it). Enjoy!
