Born and raised a meat and potatoes (and corn) girl - became a vegetarian about 6 years ago for no apparent reason. I have a boyfriend to cook for now! YAY!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I still cook meat, I just don't eat it. I enjoy cooking comfort foods like macaroni and cheese and beer bread. I love sweets, especially chocolate.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom tried to cook every night. She makes excellent lasagna and meatloaf, although I didn't appreciate it at the time. In their later years, my parents have become party-throwers, so I have learned how and what to serve at parties. Think hot-buttered rum, potato pancakes, divinity, meatballs.
My cooking triumphs
I tinkered with a corn muffin recipe I found online here and think it turned out pretty good.
My cooking tragedies
I recently made a dip from here and had technical difficulties with the sun-dried tomatoes. On top of that, the dip was terribly salty, HUGE, and just a bit too overbearing overall. The fam liked it, but it made my head hurt.
