About this Cook
A was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Milwaukee about 10 years ago. I love to entertain, and for me, cooking is like art. It isn't just about the recipe tasting good, it has to look good on the plate as well. Somehow, after years of various graphic design jobs, I have found myself merging my love of cooking with my career and I now and the sr. art director for a major food magazine. I love allrecipes.com because of the reviews from others. If a recipes doesn't have at least 4 stars, odds are I won't even try it. Kooky, crazy, and full of laughter - that is me in a nutshell. Be sure to check out my cupcake adventures at http://mkecupcakequeen.blogspot.com .
My favorite things to cook
cupcakes, shell fish, cupcakes, salmon, cupcakes, steaks, cupcakes, meatloaf, cupcakes, quick breads, chile rellenos, cupcakes, anything new and challenging, oh...did I mention cupcakes?
My cooking triumphs
I love to cook for friends. Prep for days, cook all day and provide an amazing meal that lasts for hours. I have also become quite the baker in the past year or so, and that is a totally different type of satisfaction.
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 20 I wanted to make a fancy dinner for my boyfriend. I accidentally turned on the jennair grill rather than the burner and ended up lighting the cutting board that covered it when not in use, ON FIRE! Smoke alarm when off, flames flew in the kitchen, extinguishers were sprayed. We laughed our butts off.

Crab Rangoon III
Simple, yummy. I only wish I could fold them up as cute as in the restaurant...but no matter, they still tasted great.

OMG! Thank You Thank You Thank You! I moved to Wisconsin 12 years ago and have missed Rubio's ever since. This is a darn close interpretation of the original. Now...if only I could figure out a way to find the ocean sand to wiggle my toes in while I eat them! YUM!
