I like cooking because it gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I can provide a tasty meal for my family and friends. I think just about anyone can cook if they wanted to. It just takes practice.

My favorite family cooking traditions

My cooking triumphs
Successfully made crusty bread following instructions from Breadtopia.com for "no knead bread". Jagerschnitzel - it's just yummy.
My cooking tragedies
Homemade pizza, I just can't seem to get it right.

Irish Soda Bread
Sweet enough, but not too sweet. Moist and dense, not dry and brittle. There may be a bit too much raisins - I just reduced the amount. It was a very delicious soda bread.

Sweet and Sour Pork III
I followed the recipe as written with the exception of using a red pepper in place of a green. Green peppers are too bitter. I really like this recipe and I am one who ran away screaming from sweet and sour sauce with celery and peppers. It pairs really well with the pork and adds a lovely complexity. I highly recommend trying this recipe.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
This is a great recipe. The cornbread was moist, sweet (but not too sweet) and full of flavor. It also held together well - not crumbly at all. I didn't have buttermilk, but the commonly used substitute of milk and a Tbsp of lemon juice did the trick. I also baked it in a cast iron pot which let it brown nicely.
