I'm originally from PA, but moved to CA a few years ago. Both my boyfriend & I are vegetarians, but we are both picky eaters, and we tend to like different foods. It makes finding meals we both enjoy a real challange.
I love cooking, but I'm still learning, and always will be.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! I love cookies, cakes, pies and sweet breads. And smoothies, too.
I have also made a number of vegetarian dishes (grain & bean-based burgers, chili, burritos, rissotto) lately that I've loved.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies. My mom, my grandma and I always used to bake cookies just before X-mas when my Grandma visited.
My cooking triumphs
Any good chili or minestrone soup I've made (lots of attempts before I found recipes I liked!). My biggest recipe that was a real winner for both of us recently was Bell Pepper Risotto. Delish! And filling & easy, too!
Pretty much any new meal idea that turns out yummy is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I have problems trying to add things into my normal foods (i.e. pumpkin pancakes or waffles made with applesauce) to spice them up a bit. It tends to backfire on me. Oh well, at least I try!
