Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
This was devoured at my bar b que this weekend. I used club house crackers, garlic, and 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese, but other than those small changes kept it all the same. One guest even told me it tasted better than his moms usual squash casserole. This is a must try recipe and will be used often.

Skillet Bow Tie Lasagna

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
I needed something quick and easy to cook for the kids dinner and this was the answer! I did use some Italian diced tomatoes and some onion powder. I just adjusted the seasonings to our families taste and skipped the cottage cheese. It tasted alot like HH but without all the additives. Thanks for the post and another great and easy meal. Oh....the kids loved it!!

Maple-Glazed Sausages

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
These were great! I used some smoked sausage and cut the brown sugar down to about a 1/4 of a cup and eyeballed the maple syrup. Served them along side Fluffy French Toast (also on this site). The kids and husband gobbled them up.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
Followed the recipe as stated but doubled the sauce and added some onion, mushrooms, and water chestnuts. Didn't have any chili sauce so used chili flakes. This was an easy and simple dish and will add it into my file for something different to do with chicken.

Garlic and Basil Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
Okay I really hate to give a recipe a bad review espically if we just didn't care for the "outcome" of a recipe. This dressing is very thick, and very strong. It really over powers the flavors of the salad. Not what I expected from a vinaigrette. But with that being said I am going to give it a higher rating because it is awesome on grilled chicken and pasta. I didn't want to throw it away so I mixed it in with some left over pasta, grilled chicken, and parmeasean cheese. It tasted almost like pesto but lower in calories and fat. So give it a try on your pasta and skip in it as a salad dressing.

Glazed Lemon Supreme Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
This was more like a true cake than a pound cake. The lemon taste was great and I loved the simple lemon glaze. Though my cake turned out a little dry- maybe it was my oven? But it is worth making again and will be a great cake to take to all those summer bar b ques.

Chocolate Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I used the Hershey's special dark chocoate chips and melted them in the microwave and then dipped the strawberries. I gave these out to my kids pre schools teachers and got so many thanks you's. So easy and so great. I will never buy a chocolate covered strawberry again espically when it was so easy and plus alot cheaper.

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
I made this over the holidays and it was a hit. I do think next time I will cut down on the brown sugar since it seemed a bit to sweet. I put the bottle rum on the side and let everyone add their desired amount. With a dollop of redi whip and a sprinkle of nutmeg this was the perfect holiday treat.

Crispy Chicken Strips

I thought these were a little bland and not sure if I will mess with the potato flakes again espically since I don't keep them on hand. I think if you add more spice it will give alot more flavor.

White Chocolate Gorp

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
I made this for my daughter and sons teachers at their Preschool and it was a hugh hit! I wouldn't reccomend melting the chocolate chips in the microvave- it is to easy to over melt and I had to throw a whole batch out! Also 3 bags of white chocolate chips was plenty for my batch.

This was great even without the ham, bacon, and shrimp. It was a little bland for our taste but we also love spicy foods. The beef broth gave a nice rich flavor. This is a keeper!!

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This would be a 5 but please skip the microwave and use the oven! Cook at 250 and stir every 15 minutes. Also I usually cut the seasoning salt down to 1 tsp since the worcestershire tends to be salty enough.
