Buttermilk Coffee Cake

Made this for a friend and her rather picky kids and we all loved it! I added vanilla extract (probably 1/2 tsp) to the batter and made the topping with oats instead of nuts as one of the kids has a nut allergy. One caveat: if you do use something besides nuts for topping you will need to add something other fat or liquid to make the topping clump. It wasn't awful without, just a little crumbly. I made an apple topping to go with it and when that was gone we made strawberry sauce and had ice cream too. Mmmm.... Any time of day this would be delicious!

Oatmeal Whole Wheat Quick Bread

Mmmmm... very tasty! I've made it twice in the span of 1 week now. The first time I made a double batch and put it all into one loaf. One word of advice for doubling it and making one big loaf: DON'T! Mine was raw in the middle. I toasted it and it was fine, but yeesh. The second time I tripled the batch and made 3 tbsp-scoop size drop biscuits. THOSE are excellent! The biscuits baked in about 30 minutes at 350 degrees F. (I didn't want to bake 'em at 450 for fear they'd become charcoal briquettes!) Delicious, slightly sweet, and satisfying either way! Thanks for the recipe (sung to the tune of "Thanks for the Memories :) Sorry, feeling silly!)

Peanut Butter Bars I

VERY tasty! Make a mistake and didn't cut 'em in time so they kinda broke into shards instead of bars, but they were delicious and easy!

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Made this for a luncheon and for a large Thanksgiving buffet. I served it with a cider-caramel cream sauce and it was a HUGE hit! Spicy, sweet, satisfying and delicious!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

These cookies are perfect! They are soft, moist, and just sweet enough. It's nice that they're spicy and flavorful and not just really sugary. The glaze softens them nicely and makes them taste even better! Thanks for a satisfying, light cookie that is the perfect foil for the overly sugary and rich foods of this season!

Toll House® Blonde Brownies

Ahh... the traditional Toll House Blonde Brownie. Just sweet enough and butterscotch-y! I had trouble spreading the dough into a VERY large pan, so make sure you spread out the dough lots when putting in the pan so you don't have to spread it as far. It kinda skates around otherwise.

Soft Molasses Cookies V

SO delicious, easy, and pretty! After I formed the dough into balls I rolled 'em in sugar and then baked them. They turned out crunchy and sparkly outside and soft and moist inside. Mmmm...

Russian Tea Cakes I

I might have done this wrong, but they dough was a bit crumbly for me and frustrating to form. This might also be because I was making about 7 million cookies and was in a bit of a time crunch. Oh well. The flavor was wonderful and they turned out well in the end which is what's important! :) Thanks for the recipe!

Never Fail Applesauce Spice Cake

Mmmmm... so soft and delicious. I skipped the frosting and it was STILL good! Had a group of high school kids make it and they did really well. Had them make a hazelnut caramel sauce to top it and that was delicious too! I recommend it...

Apple Oatmeal Cookies II

Literally JUST printed this out, prepared it and served it to a potential Miss America Contestant. Seriously! Didn't have any whole eggs, so I subbed egg whites (which I'm sure is fine with her! :D) and they still turned out wonderfully. Moist, soft, and cakelike, a perfect late summer treat with some of the first and best apples of the season!

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Mmmm... good stuff. I actually skipped all but about 2 tablespoons of the oil 'cause I grated too much zucchini. I used a little brown sugar, some demerara sugar, and some white. I also used half raspberries and half blueberries. I know that lots of people get angry when a reviewer changes that much about a recipe and still has the nerve to review it, but I have a feeling that just as it was it would be just as good. Moist, not too sweet and a great way to showcase a shopping spree at a local fruit and vegetable stand. Again, mmmmmm....

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Mmmmm... Didn't actually get to try them baked 'cause they were a gift but they smelled REALLY good and the batter tasted delicious! I used 2 cups of white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar to increase the flavor and moistness and that seemed to work out pretty well. I decorated the top with a little buttercream frosting to write a thank you note and it was very pretty, if I do say so myself! :)

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Very good. Simple (almost overly so) but good. Needs some sort of nut flour, or zest, something! They are quite easy and do in fact melt in your mouth. I'd admonish other bakers to add flavoring, but definitely try it!

Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti

Honey Graham Crackers

These were really, really easy to make! I had tried another recipe before and they didn't turn out at all, but this one worked perfectly. I actually ended up par-freezing the dough to make it easier to roll out and then baked them for 13 minutes. At fifteen minutes a few of them burned which was my fault 'cause I wasn't watching them closely enough. Great with Carnation Instant Breakfast and fruit for lunch or Pastry cream and coffee for dessert! Mmmmmm...

Playgroup Granola Bars

I am working on a farm at the moment and need as much nutrient and food-value (calorie is a BAD word for me,so I avoid it like the plague!)dense snack food as I can get. These definitely fit the bill. Each time I've made them I've been missing an ingredient but they've still been good. I make a double recipe in the same size pan and bake it for 1 hour. I've used half of the wheat germ and the other half wheat flour, maple syrup, nuts, and all oatmeal and no wheat germ. The maple syrup makes a moister bar, but it still works. So good and good for you! Thanks for the recipe!

Spaghetti Pie III

My family and I have been making this for years! We love it because it does not get crunchy and dried out during baking. It works well with leftovers and is very quick. We sometimes leave out all the filling part and just mix milk and cream cheese. Careful covering with foil b/c the cheese will stick to it if you don't do something to keep it away form the melting cheese. ENJOY!!!

Colonial Brown Bread

Mmmmm...I have always wanted to try Brown Bread and I am glad I did. I only made one loaf (there aren't that many in our house) and I made it with soured milk and molasses. My one caveat is to make sure that you really mix it well. I did not mix mine enough and ended up with white streaks in mine. That is my fault though, not that of the recipe's. I served mine warm with vegetarian baked beans, ham, Swiss Cheese, and salad for dinner and everyone liked it. Thanks so much for the recipe. I will definitely make it again!

Baked Tofu Bites

I loved this dish! As a girl trying to find enjoyment in food again after an eating disorder, this is something I love to eat. It is so tasty because the "barbecue sauce" gets so nice and caramelized on the little bites of tofu. So good with brown rice and mixed vegetables! Mmmmm...

Greek-Style Stuffed Peppers

This is a wonderful recipe. I did tweek it a little per others reviews. I added the pepper to the pork and onion mixture and after putting the tomato puree in I added marjoram, thyme, and oregano and cooked the mixture down for just a few minutes. This took care of the bland problem for me, and hopefully it will work for others as well
