Both of My Wonderful Sons, Kyle and Gage
My son ,Kyle and I
About this Cook
I'm a divorced father of two wonderful sons (8&10 years old). I live alone but have a habit to over cook.
My favorite things to cook
Outside of the typical guy favorites such as outdoor grilling and just about anything spicy. I also enjoy preparing ethnic foods such Mexican to Asian. I'm not sure why? But I learned while cooking outdoors, Food taste better with a beer in hand. Is it just me? But also I enjoy experimenting with new sauces and marinades.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom used to make this simple dessert with just layers of bananas, whip cream and graham crackers. And as a kid it was sooo good. especially when it sat out at room temperature the next day, to get soft and moist.
My cooking triumphs
Teriyaki chicken that I have marinaded(with my own marinade not anything in a premade bottle) overnight in the fridge and cook on the grill using indirect heat. When almost done I put those bad boys right over the flame to get a little crispy. Use the leftover marinade to cook rice in. Build your own pizza night with my kids is always a hit. Smoking meats using a cool smoke process and a real b.b.q sauce, not the lazy and crappy bottled stuff, is what my friends and family say I excelled in. I appreciate all b.b.q from Carolina vinager to Kansas tomato base. Of course real b.b.q. should taste like heaven without any sauce.
My cooking tragedies
I don't know if it is considered cooking. But I tried to make wine once. And what I ended up with was Mad Dog 20/20 that was fizzy.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce
A Slice Of Heaven!!!! I saved this recipie many moons ago. Today, I tried it. This was GREAT. I had some chicken leg quarters that I dry rubbed and put on my smoker, that's another show. Anyways, this b.b.q sauce came out beyond expectations. I'm a yankee from western Pa. that is now hailed as a B.B.Q King that just happened to be born in the north. In part of this recipe was a factor. Good job Big Al. Yense (Pa. for y'all) did great.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings
I had this recipie in my "recipie box" for a long time and finally made it. Step by step. Man, this is the best O-rings I ever made. The only problem was that I had no one else to share them with. I may next time I make this is to add a splash of beer in the egg wash. Not sure what ,if any, difference it'll make. But be sure this summer when I smoke a dry rubbed beef brisket. This will be a garnish when served.
