Married with 3 grown children. Work as a teacher's aide in our town. My hobbies are crafting and cooking/baking. My husband loves to help out in the kitchen also.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking chicken oreganato w/roasted potatoes. This was a specialty of my mothers. I also like to make homemade chicken soup.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Sunday growing up, my mom would make a big 'pot of gravy' a.k.a. tomatoe sauce. She would put in meatballs, sausage, neckbones, and bracciole. And a pasta would accompany it. My sister and I still today share that tradition with our families.
My cooking triumphs
I don't have any. I just enjoy cooking.
My cooking tragedies
There were many. But the one that stands out in my mind is the first time I made lasagna. I was supposed to let it sit for about 15 minutes before cutting into it, and I cut into it as soon as it came out of the oven. When I went to put it on the plates, it was like big noodles in ricotta soup. I wanted to cry. Not only that, my sauce burnt at the bottom of the pot and it had a burnt taste. This dinner was for my new in-laws at the time. But, they ate everything and even complimented me on what a great job I did. They were the best.
