About this Cook
Not too much to say here. I am enjoying learning about all the local foods, and how to prepare them.
My favorite things to cook
I love soups/stews and anything spicy! OOH, we went to Hungary this past month (9/2005) and I LOVED the food! I can't wait to prepare some gulyas (goulash)and other tasty treats we had. YUMMY!!!!! I'm sure they will become fast favorites to prepare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Enchiladas on Christmas Eve with a big pot of posole! Making the 'big' salad in the tupperware bowl that will keep the salad fresh forever
My cooking triumphs
I made an omelette that was perfectly shaped! My presentation skills are the big thing I'm working on now.
My cooking tragedies
Most recently the farfalle pasta leftovers that the next day I tried to transform into a seafood pasta. Blech. Before that, the beer cheese soup. BIG blech. I do want to find a good recipe for that though, we had some that was good in Germany, but I didn't get the recipe for it. Of course, there was the brine issue one of the years we were going to smoke the turkey. I put the turkey and the brine in a metal stock pot. UGH!!!! We had Thanksgiving on Friday that year, and only the side dishes on Thursday (which we were thankful to have) It is also tragic that I am still unable to have my daughter share in my love of cooking.

Carnitas Filling
Excellent! I followed the suggestion from a previous reviewer and used the filling inside flour tortillas. I then put green chile enchilada sauce (Hatch) w/ cheese. I made a double batch, so I have plenty of meat/veggies left over for other dishes. Awesome base recipe! Thanks!

Chocolate Zucchini Bread I
Nice way to use my giant zucchini. I had already given just as many as I could to everyone I knew, so this was a great way to use the big ones that were left over. I loved how moist it turned out.
