About this Cook
I am a college student at the University of Oklahoma. Majors: Linguistics and Russian Language. Minor: Spanish. I enjoy literature, traveling, and, of course, cooking and eating!
My favorite things to cook
Things that taste good! I really love vegetable dishes, fish, Russian and Chinese food, any kind of dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom and I like to make truffles. They usually turn out really well. We also make a lot of cakes together, because it is difficult to find sugar-free cakes in stores. (Mom avoids sugar and meat to control her blood sugar, and I try to to stay skinny.)
My cooking triumphs
My grandmother gave me a recipe for deviled eggs that is hugely popular. In the sorority I was in, they usually just printed my name under "deviled eggs" right on the sign-up sheet!
My cooking tragedies
I was making chocolate-chip cookies at my boyfriend's house. As they were baking, his mom said, "I smell something burning." We ran into the kitchen to find cookie batter all over the inside of their new oven. I had forgotten the flour!

Brigadeiro
This was okay, but really too much for us to eat, and it doesn't keep so well.

Pumpkin Bread
I don't think I cooked it quite as long as the recipe calls for, and I covered it with foil until the last ten minutes to keep the top from over-browning. It was a hit at our Halloween party!
