It's All About the Pumpkin!

Yes, it's all about the pumpkin. Every fall I look forward to pumpkin pie. The mere mention of this delectable treat causes a Pavlov-like reaction in my oldest son. Close your mouth, boy - you're drooling. Here, I am not creative. I use the recipe on the can of Libby's pumpkin - the plain puree, with my own homemade, flaky crust. Why mess with perfection when there are so many other ways to use this vegetable.

It is a vegetable, right?
Never mind - that's another blog.

My preference is for sweet pumpkin items. Maybe someday I'll try some savory pumpkin dishes. Someday.

So here are some of my pumpkin adventures -
just click the pictures to see the recipes.

Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Crunch Parfaits

Pumpkin Bread Pudding

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin Oatmeal

Pumpkin Pie-Licious Milk Shake

Apple Pumpkin Muffins

Pumpkin Cloverleaf Rolls
These LOOK great, but I wasn't wild about them.
They were better with...

Pumpkin Butter

Brined and Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
(no link here - I sort of combined a bunch of recipes.)

Pumpkin Pancakes

Pumpkin Brownies

Pumpkin Coffee Cake

Fall Festival Pumpkin Cranberry Muffins

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Thanks for dropping by!

Avon, some of these items were made last year, but might soon be repeated. :)

always like your blogs. I bought a #10 can pumpkin a few weeks back and found almost as many things to put pumpkin in as you gave pictures for. My kids favorite are pumpkin and chocolate chip pancakes. Pumpkin is the bomb. I love sneaking Vitamin A into everything! Pumpkin pie, Pumpkin muffins, Pumpkin pancakes all freeze well...so make in bulk is my motto.

Your pictures are great.... Pumpkins brownies are on my need to try list, just turned the oven on to 350 degrees. Three of my all time favorite pumpkin recipes are the great pumpkin cookie(a pumpkin with chocolate chip delight), pumpkin apple bread(made with chunks of fresh apple, might be very close to the pumpkin apple muffin), and pumpkin apple-butter pie (an amazing streusle-topped change for the traditional pumpkin pie, which looking for the recipe is what lead me here today)....hum and on second thought even pumpkin soup is great!

About Me
I have three sons, ages 13, 12, and 9, who are very picky eaters (especially the middle one). Their favorite meal is a bowl of buttered pasta. I try to cook things that they might enjoy trying, but they're not always willing to try new things. My oldest is getting better. He actually eats real food much of the time now! In my spare time I teach second grade. I have introduced my students to cooking and/or new foods over the years. We've even baked cakes in my roaster right in the classroom!
My favorite things to cook
I love to try all sorts of new recipes, so I don't really have a favorite thing to cook. I go in phases, really. I've been doing more cupcake and cake decorating lately. I'll try almost anything if I think my family will eat it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making the pumpkin pies and other desserts for Thanksgiving. I always like to try one new dessert for each holiday. Baking Christmas cookies is a tradition that goes back as long as I can remember.
My cooking triumphs
I've made some pretty cool cakes for my boys' birthdays. They include a firetruck, baseball, football, and Pokeball. I've also used shaped pans to decorate everything from Barney and Elmo, Power Ranger, Jeff Gordon's #24 racecar, a dog and dog house, and most recently, a monkey and a penguin. One of my best triumphs has been teaching my boys to cook. They'll never go hungry.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I cooked a turkey I relied on my thermometer to tell when it was done. It wasn't.
