I am a transplanted Kentuckian in North Carolina who is in love with Southern Cooking. I am always trying to find new ways of doing old Southern dishes. My dream is to open a small bakery offering pastries, cakes, and cookies. I must say that my favorite things to cook would have to be any type of cookie or candy. Sugar is an art form and it's my muse! My entire family has the same kind of tradition. Every so often in the fall and winter we make my grandmother's dried apple stack cakes. The patience it takes to let them sit a couple of days to "ripen" is almost more than we can bear! I must say my greatest triumph was catering breakfast for 400. Sweet potato biscuits, country ham, peppered bacon, loaded omlettes, and an oatmeal/juice bar! Potato salad....any type or kind.
