Delish, moist, and fluffy! I've made several cornbread scratch recipes and this one is my favorite of them all. Popped right out of the iron skillet. Very fluffy and crumbles great. This is "company" quality!

Professionally MOIST! Heirloom recipe. I thought that the spread would get thicker but discovered that it was fine and soaked in a little. I accidentally dropped an extra tablespoon of vanilla into the spread and it was still yummy (phew). I tripled the chocolate and shortning at the end to get all the way around the cake. I pre-measured out all the ingredients and it went fast and was fun even with 4 little interrupters. I JUST NEED A WHITE CAKE THIS MOIST.

The kids and I thought this was great. They picked out the onions because they were crisp as they weren't carmelized first...a feature I especially liked with it's fresh onion taste. My husband like it but to my surprise it was a bit hum-drum for him and thought it needed something to punch up the flavor. Leftovers were dry and not very good.
