Gingerbread Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
The taste was good but it was very soft. I had a hard time just transferring each out of the waffle iron onto a plate. Not sure if it is the recipe or the waffle iron but I do know that I've had others come out crispy on the outside before. I wish I knew...

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
This was very dense and did not work out for me. It sunk in the middle and did not cook all the way and that never happens with my standard or other banana bread recipes I've tried. I couldn't even take a picture. :(

I like recipes that are so easy and the result is so good. This was one those.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Easy, so convenient. I often can get overwhelmed while preparing breakfast because I like to serve everything hot... I decided to try this since I was making 2 other items at the same time. I followed the recommendations. I used regular bacon and lined a cookie sheet with non-stick foil. Cooked in 400 degree oven, turned and drained fat midway. The result was crispy and delicious.

Uncle Jesse's French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Well, I made this today for my daughter's birthday breakfast. I made a few changes: I used day old Italian Bread, 1 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. ground cloves, 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp. ginger. I also have never made French toast without milk so I added some as well. I didn't use more butter than just enough to fry the French toast. I lightly dusted the sugar. We enjoyed this quite a lot. Thumbs up!

Stuffed Shells I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
I made some changes based on some of the reviews as well as because I like to use fresh herbs better. I used 2 cups small curd cottage cheese and 2 cups Ricotta Cheese. I also chopped about 3 tbs. fresh basil and about the same of fresh parsley. Added one pkg. chopped frozen Spinach, thawed and used freshly ground black pepper, 1 tsp. garlic powder, a little salt, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, about 1/3 cup shredded Asiago Cheese and about 2 tbs. grated Romano cheese. I used Bertolli Olive Oil & Garlic Spaghetti sauce and topped with freshly grated Parmesan. Made it the night before and took to a potluck at work. I got rave reviews.

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This is the type of dessert that is perfect if you are very limited on time or simply not up to a challenge. It is very good and extremely easy to make. I used a package of prepared chocolate frosting and almost went ahead and made the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site or another topping. I now wish I had. It was ok but there was no wow factor. Just a simple but good dessert.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
This is absolutely delicious! It was a huge hit at the 4th of July BBQ party at our neighbors. It went pretty fast with everyone going back for 2nds. I did use a full 4 oz. can of diced Jalapeño peppers and a mix of Parmesan & Romano Cheeses, baked in 325 degree oven for about 25 minutes and topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese for better presentation. A keeper for sure! Thank you Denise!

Fudge Puddles

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Excellent!! I made the recipe as written. I used the pestle (from my mortar & pestle) to make the well in the center. It was well worth the time it took. I didn't have to double the dough but I did make sure that the well was deep without making the bottom see through. I let them cool for about 8 minutes before removing them from the pan and transferring them to the cooling wracks. Then I let them cool for another 15 minutes before I started on the fudge filling. There was maybe enough left over fudge to fill two more puddles. The result was delicious!

Ricardo's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
I love the taste of the herbs in this. I reduced the sugar by 1 tbs. but would either reduce more or leave it out completely next time. It yielded two pizzas. The only thing is that my oven is electric... I don't know why but even though I set the timer for only 12 minutes the first one burned. The second one was better. We liked it a lot.

Rice-so-Nice

This was good. I had tried a recipe that was similar. Well, since I reduced the butter to 1/4 cup it was identical. I didn't realize it until after dinner and I was reading my review for the other recipe.

Spiced Bacon Twists

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This was outstanding! I made a mistake and put 1/2 tsp. cayenne instead of 1/4 tsp.. I was so worried that it would be too spicy but it wasn't. I did not twist mine. Simply because I overlooked that part of the directions. We loved them.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

This one was a good, and easy recipe. I picked it for my 14 yr. old cook night. We doubled the recipe and went a little heavier on the garlic powder and salt. We also added about 3 tbs. bbq sauce. It will be made time & again.

This is a good, tasty sauce recipe. I didn't use the sausage. I used ground beef instead. Next time I'll try it with sausage. I added some Spicy Spaghetti seasoning and some fresh sliced mushrooms.
