About this Cook
I was born in Brazil and came to the U.S. when I was 16, by myself, to go to school here. Back then I had dreams of traveling the world and learning different languages, cultures, etc. However, I met my husband about a year or so later and we were married. Now 23 years later we have 3 kids ( 1 boy 2 girls . When I got married I couldn't really cook much but now I can and enjoy it a lot. I work full time so finding time to cook is hard but I try. I also enjoy chatting with other cooks and exchanging recipes on " http://thequalitycook.forumz.cc/index.php, where I can get help when I need it and a great group that share my interest for cooking as well as our addiction for "All recipes".
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking. I like to make cookies and bake cakes, bread, pie, etc.. I bake or roast often, usually chicken and Pork loin. I Love to make things for special occasions and I am known for going overboard and making too much!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grilling in the summer. Sundays are stake night at our house. Brazilian white rice is a constant side dish for most of our meals. Christmas Eve dinner is another tradition for us Including Turkey , Ham, Asparagus Casserole, pecan pie, Cherry pie,Mashed potatoes, Cranberry Jello Salad, and I always make "Arroz de Festa" (Confetti Rice), for this special occasion.
My cooking triumphs
A triumph would be any time my family and friends complement my cooking and also any time I'm asked for a recipe.
My cooking tragedies
Once I decided to make Butternut Squash Bisque for my sister-in-law who was sick, and take it to her as a surprise. Well, it smelled and tasted wonderful and towards the very end I was suppose to add 1/2 cup of heavy cream and I was in a hurry and did not taste the cream first and it had spoilled. I found out after adding it to the pot of Bisque. I was so upset that it could not be salvaged since I had mixed it in.

Hash Brown Casserole II
Delicious and easy. I followed the recipe with the exception of using Mushroom soup instead of chicken as others suggested. I will try the french fried onion on top sometime.

Grilled Chicken Adobo
This one was ok. I liked the flavor. I did follow the suggestions and reduced the soy sauce. If I tried this again I'd use boneless chicken breast instead.

Honey Mustard Beer Brats
I thought these turned out really good. What I liked most was how easy it was to make. The addition of the bbq sauce was great. The house did smell good while it was cooking. I also skipped the red bell pepper as I didn't have any and used two green instead. I added more garlic than called for as I do with most dishes. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
