Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
As a lot of other reviewers, this was my very first attempt at making prime rib. I served it for a New Years Eve dinner party and it was delicious!!! I am lucky to have farmer’s market close by, because I got the nicest piece of meat from the local butcher. I made an 8.5-pound roast and I didn’t alter the rub marinade at all, and it covered the entire roast nicely. The secret to this recipe truly is using a meat thermometer… you can’t go wrong. My total cook time was approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, I took it out of the oven at 130º and as it rested the temperature rose to the desired 140º…it was done perfectly!

Crescent Pizza Pockets

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
My family really enjoyed this recipe, it was a bit time consuming, but it was worth the work because everyone loved them. I also added mushrooms, but you could add any pizza topping that you like! The kids thought they were better then Hot Pockets, so I guess that is a hit!

Veggie Pizza Faces

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
This recipe was a huge hit in my house, we have teenagers...and all their friends, and they all loved these veggie pizzas! I had six helpers to assemble them; my only complaint was keeping the kids from eating my veggie prep-food toppings for the pizzas while we were assembling them! I just added a little fresh cracked pepper to the top!

I love shallots, so this was the perfect recipe for me to use! I had some leftover sun dried tomatoes, so I added then in as well.

Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
I wish I could give this recipe 10 stars! I used fresh corn off the cob, and halved cherry tomatoes, and substituted feta cheese instead of Parmesan (thanks to another reviewer). For some protein and to make this dish a complete meal, I added in some smoked turkey sausage! It was a big hit!

Roast Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
My kind of recipe simple and easy. I use sea salt, and olive oil instead of vegetable oil, and I bake them aprox. 40 minutes checking and stirring half way through so they get crispy on all sides.

Baked Ham Sandwiches

My family loves these simple yet tasty sandwiches, they are great for nice warm week night sandwich. I usually use cooper sharp cheese, because the kids prefer that over swiss, but I love using baby swiss cheese for the adults!

Grilled Potatoes and Onion

I love making potatoes this way in the summer, no oven needed. The only thing I change is I use a garlic pepper blend, and top with fresh cut chives and sometime crumbled bacon!

Creamy Cheesy Scrambled Eggs with Basil

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
I loved this version of scambled eggs, especially since I love using fresh herbs over the summer, they were light and fluffy and so flavorful. I also make this recipe using fresh parsley, and a mixture of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese both are great!

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
Truly restaurant quality!!! I took others advice and doubled the sauce and served it over pappardelle pasta, and WOW the presentation of this dish matched the taste too! I made everything in one pan, minus cooking the pasta. I did coat and season the chicken with 1 tsp smoked paprika, a heavy pinch of salt, fresh ground pepper, and flour mixed together. Definitely a keeper!!!

Cracklin' Bread II

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
What an amazing recipe...I did have to use bacon, I had no luck finding Cracklin's in PA...but I fried thick cut, diced bacon until crispy, and I added in some scallions and shredded cheddar cheese! This went perfect with my Cajun Jambalaya!

I goofed and added the parmesan cheese and fresh rosemary as I was mixing the dough, but it turned out wonderful! My only change was I used brown sugar instead of white.

Smooth Sweet Tea

Absolutely the best sweet tea recipe! I don't boil the water, but instead I make Sun Tea! I start with warm water and then let it sit out in the sun all day to brew, I will no longer buy Iced Tea at the store!

Magpie's Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I think the bacon drippings are the key to this recipe. I did not have Spanish parika, so I used smoked paprika instead...this sauce has a lot of depth, and I loved the fresh ginger and soy sauce in this. I made pulled pork BBQ in my slow-cooker with this sauce! Unbelievable BBQ sauce recipe!!!
