About this Cook
I am a 38 yr old mom and wife. I love to cook and over the years have passed that on to my son. I now work outside the home during the evenings and my 17 yr old son has learned to take over the kitchen for evening meals. Convenience foods are too expensive and just not healthy enough for every day eating so I use allrecipes.com to find new recipes for my son to try out.
My favorite things to cook
Recently, my favorite things to cook are stir fry and mexican foods. I enjoy spending my days off in the kitchen working beside my son.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Friday evening, my son and I spend some time together making something yummy. I chop the veggies and he seasons the meat - he is getting so good with the spices.
My cooking tragedies
Once, I pulled a recipe off the net for making a pumpkin pie. Since I was a newbie at making pumkin pies I didn't realize that sugar was missing from the list of ingredients. I took the pie to my families Thanksgiving dinner and that was when my mom told me what I had done wrong! It was embarassing, especially since she is such a pie queen!

Zucchini Apple Bread
I just got finished putting this together and was a bit confused. I substituted 2 cups of the flour for whole wheat flour and when I went to mix it into the egg mixture it was so thick there was no way I could "pour" it into the loaf pans. I added more oil, another egg, and some milk before it was even close to the consistency I have seen in other recipes. Did I do something wrong? Seems like its a bit shy on the liquid ingredients to me. Anyway, I just stuck it in the oven and can't wait to try it out.

Butterscotch Oatmeal
Much better than just plain oatmeal! Like others I reduced the brown sugar to 1/4 cup as my husband is borderline diabetic...

Tex Mex Stir Fry
My family loved this recipe. Only changes I made include the following: instead of a green bell pepper I used a yellow bell pepper, also my son put his in a flour tortilla wrap - then everyone else did the same. It was great either way. Thanks for a great recipe!
