Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
The beef was very tender, but the sauce was lacking. I'm not sure if it was because there was a lot of juices and I didn't drain the juice off before I added the sauce? I did skim the fat off first. I've had better pulled beef, and will keep looking for one our family enjoys.

Soy Ginger Salmon

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
This salmon is oh, so delicious! The whole family loved it. It has just the right blend of flavors to enhance the salmon. I didn't have lemon pepper on hand, though, so just used some regular black pepper. It was excellent, so would probably be even better using the lemon pepper. Thank you for the recipe!

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
I made this last night and we all loved it- it was a big hit with the kids, too. The only thing I would change is to reduce the amount of oil. I thought it was a tad too oily and half the oil would have sufficed. Thank you for the recipe, I'll definitely be making it again!

Chicken Thigh and Dumpling Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
I liked this recipe, but my husband thought it was a bit on the bland side. Maybe next time, I'll use chicken stock instead of veggie broth. I didn't use the refrigerated biscuits to make the dumplings. Instead, I opted to use Bisquick. I was also short on time, so I just cut the chicken prior to cooking, so it was in bite sized chunks, instead of shredding or pulling it apart after cooking. My kids are very picky eaters and it was kind of split between them liking it. Overall, I would definitely make it again, but try to give it a bit more flavor next time (for my husband).

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This was good, but a bit on the bland side, even though I added more garam masala than the recipe called for. I took the suggestion of others by grounding up cashew nuts for the thickening agent instead of cornstarch. I'd definitely make it again, and maybe experiment a bit to try to add more flavor.

Quick and Easy Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I love this recipe- it's so delicious and easy to make. I do, however, make a small change to this original recipe: I use fresh grated orange zest and two tablespoons of fresh orange juice instead of concentrate. Yummy!

Rosemary Chicken with Orange-Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
This recipe is yummy! I modified it slightly by using boneless, skinless thighs. I also used 1/4 C of grade B maple syrup, and about 1.5 T olive oil and a sliver of unsalted butter. Since I used thighs, I covered and cooked them for about 3-4 minutes each side, then took the cover off and cooked five minutes more per side. I took the chicken out and raised the heat to reduce the sauce and it reduced to a wonderful glaze to top the chicken once plated. Thanks for this recipe, I'll definitely be making it again!

Light, Crisp Waffles

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
This is the exact same recipe I got and clipped out of the Sunday paper Parade section a few years ago. Just made them today, in fact. I love these waffles, even though they do take a bit of work. I use a Belgian waffle maker and definitely need to put them in the oven to crisp up, though.

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

The flavor was good, but next time, I will use a different cut of meat. This meat was still tough for me. It's amazing how simple ingredients can make something taste so good.

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

I thought it was okay, nothing spectacular, but the flavor was fine. Similar to other dishes I've made, so I didn't think it was anything special.

Spaghetti Sauce I

Reviewed: May 25, 2003
I like this recipe, but have adapted it from the original. I use 1/2 lb of lean ground beef and 1/2 lb of mild Italian sausage and the sausage really gives it an extra kick. My husband also doesn't like the full amount of sugar in the recipe, so I use less, maybe about 2-3 tbsp. It's my favorite way of making spaghetti sauce and is so tasty!
